No one said it's a shooter. It's a game set in the Gears of War universe is all we know. Also, it's still a rumor.

Also Gears of War is not an FPS it's a 3rd person shooter.

 It is different.... first person vs third person. Also Gears doesn't play like any first person shooter I've played before, it plays more like Resident Evil 4 if I wanna compare it to something than an FPS.

I've heard ramblings that Epic isn't entirely pleased with the "closed" nature of Live, which is why UT3 is being released first on the PS3 and PC, and allowing mods to pass from the PC to the PS3. But I don't know how plausible it would be to see a game based in the Gears of War universe on the PS3. Microsoft published Gears of War, so they pretty much have say about where it goes.

 


Well, I think it could be similar to Monolith making F.E.A.R. Their publisher, Vivendi, owns the rights to the F.E.A.R name and the only way they can make another game in the 'F.E.A.R' universe is to name it something else. I don't remember their exact situation of why they'd have to do that, maybe it was to change publishers or something. That we have seen by their contest they've (or still are, I have no idea) hosted for people to send them ideas for a title.

Microsoft is the publisher of the Gears of War series, or just the first two I think.


Yeah, Microsoft has a deal with Epic for the first 2 or 3 games called straight Gears of War.  I'd be curious how successful of a strategy it would be to make a offshoot Gears game just for the PS3.  I'm kind of hoping for a completely unique game on the PS3.

Either way, the first 2 parts of the multi-part deal are awesome:  UT3 out on PS3 first and first console with mods and user-created levels (possibly with a toolset on the PS3, they are working on trying that), and then the Unreal Engine optimizations for the PS3 to get that in order.

Trolling in the Sony forum again.  Ahh what fun it is to be a Sony fan on this forum.  At least there are some intelligent non-anti-Sony fans posting more lately.

Cause you know it didn't work with the 360... oh wait... 

Also how difficult is it to understand the difference between a 3rd person shooter and a first person shooter?
