Microsoft will probably have enough casual stuff to compete with Nintendo, but will have just as much hardcore stuff as not if not more. Microsoft likely aims to win next gen, and they should get at least 30-45% market share imo. Microsoft has the resources and ingenuity to target both markets. All they have to do is steal Nintendo's casual ideas and refine them; it worked when they stole and refined Sony's already stolen and refined gaming ideas :D

keep dreaming on that 30 - 45%. If they get 15% this gen they should be greatful. but hey... even if they get 45% next gen they are still obviously not in 1st.

Dude can you do Maths?

If they had 45% next gen that would mean 55% had to be split between Sony and Nintendo. Unless your suggesting either Nintendo or Sony would have 4% then 45% would be enough to win next gen I imagine

Did I say 55% would be split even;y between Sony and Nintendo... can you do math?

What kind of a response it that? If they get 45% next gen, that leaves 55% to be split amongst the currently two other competitors. Either one gets only 4 % or, only one other company remains.

All we did was follow up on your suggested scenario.

Or there could be staggard console releases... but some people are too concerned about 100/3 than looking at future possibilities... who was I to challenge the one track minds

You're filling in information later, therfore, earlier on the "One tracked mind people" have minimal to respond to. Less specifics equals out to more people interpreting it as they see fit.

All I said was even with 45% market share they wont end up 1st. (After all they had 100% this gen) I never said they would settle at 45% and I never said Sony and Nintendo would have the other 55% only stupid people interpret things that were never said.

I don't really care if they pump out casuals...as long as i get my hardocre stuff, why should I care?

Yeah, Nintendo and Sony won't get the other 55%. How could I make such a dumb mistake? Obviosuly the market will grow to 130%. Apple will probably enter the market and get 50% of that, leaving the other 50% to Sony and Nintendo. 50% of 130% is 75%, and 75%>45%, so obviously Microsft has no chance of winning. Now that my mind has "fallen off the track", we are on the same page, right LOL MATURE? No way Microsft can win with a measly 45% of the market when there are only 3-4 companies competing.

Considering it looks like they are already hard at work at NeXtBox Halo as a launch or near launch title, I'd say not to worry.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I'm sorry... market share is a set number now? People really need to learn English comprehension and basic math skills in this thread.

Ummm... Isn't it?
You can only have from 0-100%

No market share is not a set number. It's everchanging.

Fine... I can tell it's completely going in one ear and out the other or going right over your head so I'll give you some math lessons and maybe English one if you behave

a specified number is a set number. (Ex. 1 will always mean 1)
specified % of a non specified number is not a set number (% will change depending which number the percent is reflecting. Ex. 1% of 100 is 1 but 1% of 1000 is 10)
specified % of a specified number is a set number (EX 1% of 100 will always be 1)

understand?

I know that the numbers are varying, my point was it has to be a number from 0-100 at any time

Ok well 45% is not a set number because it is 45% of consoles sold. Consoles sold is not a set number making market share a non set number. 45% out of 100 consoles sold is 45. that is a set number but the amount of consoles sold varies. making market share a non set number. Out of the 100 sold one week the next week 200 might be sold and who knows... maybe only 22.5% is them. (which would make 45 again) combine both weeks sales you have 90 out of 300. Which means 45% one week and 22.5% another made 30% all together... see how these percentages change depending on numbers? See how market share is not a set number now?

want that english lesson yet?
