I think the first few weeks of PSP 3000 release will see bigger sales than DS, but I don't see it being anywhere near as effective as the first redesign + Monster Hunter.

I actually see them both competing and taking turns on top in Japan for a while, then after that the PSP will be on top weekly again. How long this lasts depends on releases for both of them.
The competition ended a long time ago, both handhelds are doing well in JAPAN.

That's worth at least 7 Monster Hunters

So it's going to boost DS sales by about 5,000% when it launches? I just don't see that happening.

HURRRRRRRRRR DURRRRRRRRR!!!! *claps hands*
No Montana, clearly not, but even you must recognize this game will be worth more than any combination of games coming out for the PSP. This with Phantasy Star 0 and the plethora of other phenomenal games coming out for the DS the PSP is unlikely to gain any significant ground over the DS for a very long time if ever again. Though I'm sure you'll hope and pray something comes along to change that. It's a good thing for Sony that Nintendo doesn't use the strategy of releasing a new SKU every year to keep its sales perky like the PSP has to, when the PSP 4000 and PSP 5000 eventually come out I'm sure we'll all play this game of, "Will the PSP take over again?".

Ouch attacking sony again nice
Doubt it.... They're actually slipping. first it was slipping of to 70k down to 40k then... 30k? not much of difference but past few weeks they were about 70k on Japan, Americas, and others.

Is that really all the substance you have to offer to this discussion. Is that really it? Is this what the kids these days think is clever? Call it what you want Leo, but there's nothing I said there that isn't true. How is pointing out the very premise of this thread's ambition for the PSP's return, hating on Sony?
Thread: PSP will sell more eventually because of the new SKU Sony is launching because the last time they released one it sold more PSPs.
Me: So they use new SKUs to sell more PSPs?
Leo-J: Oh GAWD teh Sony hating!
