I think some of the xbox sold in Japan at the Tales of Vesperia -Start are support buys from MS. They want to prove that the xbox can sell in Japan.

So some Americans imported X360's from Japan and boosted sales in Japan for a week when TOV was launched.

I think 1k is about the lowest it will reach.

Isn't the price cut active with next weeks sales? I'm sure MS will have tried to stockpile a greater supply for then.

It probably reached 1k through a combination of bad supply, and people holding out for the impending price-cut.
