Forums - Sony Discussion - Little Big Planet "will be huge"? Crow eaters need to know what that means.

I think it will have modest first week sales, but will have very good legs and see a big boost come this Holiday.

I see it doing around 3.5M lifetime....although I hope it does more

EDIT: By modest first week sales I mean between 400k - 500k Worldwide

Alright so there are a few camps for little big planet. The ones that somehow work the phrase "LBP will be huge" into just about every post. Those that think it will be a flop, and those that thing it will be a relative failure.

To prevent later backpedaling and debate, why don't we just set up definitions for these things now.

What Constitutes "Huge"? 2.5mil? 4.00 mil? 6.00 mil? At what point is it "huge?" What is expected week 1 to constitute huge? Or is that even relevant? What about a month? Lifetime?

What is a flop? Less than 1.00 mil? Less than 2.00 mil? Less than 3.00 mil? What about initial week 1 sales? What makes it a flop after a month? Lifetime?

What is moderate, but a relative let down given the hype? 2.00 mil? 3 or 4 mil? What about initial sales after 1 week? 1 month? Lifetime?

You know there will be ten topics at launch claiming success or failure, and subsequent topics after that. When that happens we can bump this and shove crow down one anothers throats.

So pick your side (three are represented here) and define it.

It's very possible it wont sell much at launch, but i think that for this one it will generate far greater sales over time, and generate a lot of interest of the ps3 for new potential ps owners.

List me in number 4. The ones who thinks it'll be a great success for sony over time.

I am, and have been for quite some time, one of the people who believe that LBP will be a "relative failure". I think it might go to 3 million lifetime, but 2 million sounds more likely. Don't know what to expect for 1st week sales... Between 600 and 900k worldwide maybe? It will not be a failure, but it will not be a huge hit either.

What games are you even comparing?? Only a handful of games sell over 3 or 4 million, that aren't ip's with an already established fanbase. LBP selling 2 million and being a new ip is a failure??? Lol! Anyway, it'll sell well.

I think it will be a flop if it sells less than 500k LTD, so I dont ever think it will be a flop. 500k for a new IP is a great #. Anything more than that

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

57348943m sales first 5 minutes

First week WW = 550,000

4 - 6M Life time.

If it sells less than 1.75 Liftetime, then I see it as a flop considering the hype.

LBP will be huge.

4 ≈ One

Sales i do not care about that much, i think the game will be huge, not the sales

for definitions:

less than 1M: flop
1-2M: disappointment
2-3M: moderate success
3-5M: really good success
greater than 5M: huge

i think LBP will sell in the 1-3M range.

edit: those are lifetime totals.  I expect this game to have a slower start but longer legs than typical ps3 games.  we'll probably have to wait at least a month or two to get a feel for what kind of legs this guy will have.

Surely sales determine how huge a game is?
