I recently did an article about GeOW 2 1st week sales versus Halo 3, but now I'm thinking about another soon-to-be-released X360 game: Fable 2. Both games will come out this holiday season and both are expected to be big sellers. They are also worlds apart in genre, though. Which one do you think will sell better on the first week, and then over its lifetime?

Is this even a competition? Gears of War 2 will sell vastly better both in it first week and in its lifetime. This is not to say that Fable II will sell poorly, but if Fable II could see a reasonable rise over its predecessor, than so could Gears of War 2.

No problem. Games like Zack & Wiki were hyped to all hell on this site, but the sales didn't really reflect that (the sales were definitely good, but if this site gave you an impression of the hype, you'd think differently).

Ok. I think Gears 2 will MASSIVELY outsell Fable 2.

But to be honest, I think Fable 2's lifetime sales will be substantial.

Gears 2: 5 million

Fable 2: 3 million

Fixed.

Gears will drop a deuce on Fable 2. Sales and quality wise.

I will say Fable II first week, but Gears of War total

but honestly yeah Gears of War more than doubled the sales of Fable. So it makes sense that GOW2 would kill F2.

However bieng head to head rather than two seperate markets and times could make a big impact.

I think Fable II will win week 1 because of the massive amount of pre-orders with pub games (incentive) and the fact that majority of people who want it want it Day 1 (I think in a greater number than gears 2).
