If you look at total sales since the PS3 launched, it hasn't dented the X360's lead at all.

Although the PS3 looks like it is doing better now, it still has 5m to catch up, and who knows, maybe their positions will flip again back to X360 winning world wide. Not that "winning" really means anything since they are always so close.

The "race" for second isn't a sprint, it's a marathon.

No one really wins, which ever console loses steam first, loses.

Sony's hardware lends itself to have more staying power as a Bluray player and because of all the features but Microsoft is doing everything they can to maintain the software lead

It's too close to call.



I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

 That's interesting. But remember than X360 sold 1.16M in Others while Ps3 wasn't even there.

Still, that doesn't mean that much, as Ps3 got a bonus from launching in Others, which the X360 didn't get. I estimate that to be ~ 650K over X360, so X360 gets a 500K advantage in Others due to this. Excluding the weeks of Ps3 launch in 2006, I guess that evens out the late Ps3 launch.

So, that's out of the way.

But remember than Ps3 has sold 1.4M more than X360 this year, but I don't really know if it will last.

I think that's pretty much what will happen, buts its really hard to guess what the final sales will be for any of the systems. The more interesting battle will come next gen.

I even believe, at the end, PS3 will be "significatively" ahead of the Xbox360

+ 10-20M ahead.

Nintendo number one is locked up, 2 and 3 us were it gets dicey I think PS3 will win in the end but as you stated it wont matter cause it will be so close.  I fyou think about it that would be a HUGE vicotry for MS they went from 0 to finally playing with the big boys



PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

I disagree. PS3 will win because starting 2010, the Wii and Xbox360 will start to have negative sales. Sources told me so sometime ago.
