Forums - Microsoft Discussion - HOLY.... The first Xbox360 Jasper failure!

If they can get average power consumption under load below 100w, they should be able use a smaller PSU, smaller fans/cooling system and a smaller chassis as well.

Maybe there will be a chassis revision once the integrated CPU/GPUs go into production.

101W - is that not close enough for you?

And yet the PS3 doesn't melt when subjected to a small amount of heat and cures cancer...

Funny you should mention that... You've had 3 PS3 breakages right? Do you also fold @ home? Thats been the main usage of my PS3 and its broken twice and i've also heard of a corelation between folding and PS3s breaking down.

I have heard oft his happening too!!

Currently Playing:

PS4 - Killzone:SF and Assasins Creed 4

XBox One: BF4, CoD:Ghosts, Dead Rising 3, Forza 5

2... I think it was the kids jumping and dancing next to it while playing singstar that did it as it looked the disk drive read gave up due to all the knocks... but don't tell Sony!  I figured disappointment it overheated like a 360 was the better way to go and so far they haven't asked for a penny even outside of warranty...

I was folding home but then weighed up the power I was burning in the process, etc. and had to come to the conclusion that although in principle I think it's a nice thing it was getting too expensive for me and was probably contributing to global warming...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I am thinking about buying a second Xbox360. How do I know which 360 is Jasper and which is not?

I still got my launch-model without HDMI and 20GB HDD :D

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

That's why all the activity based games sell on Wii so well, it produces so little heat, that people need to keep themselves in movement while playing, in order to stay warm.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

/Yawn.

When it gets cold in here in the winter, I just turn the PS3 on. Warms the room up in 10 minutes

Good to hear they finally got everything under control.

My PS3 doesnt like heat. It gets upset when its a hot day. If its a cold day the PS3 is happy, and plays out in the fields.

Curse you sun!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I've processed over 440 Folding data units without any problems. Folding has made my console reset two or three times when quitting the program, but as for "breaking" it? Not based on my extensive personal experience.

From a design standpoint, there aren't any critical flaws in the hardware engineering. From a QC standpoint, the PS3 is still well under what is considered the average acceptable rate of failure for consumer electronics.

For all those who've had problems; somone has to end up with the bottom 1%. It's unfortunate, but it happens.
