I love the sentiment bugrimmar. Sadly, it doesn't seem to change much. There are a good number of sensible people here. But there are an equal number if not more that enjoy malicious behavior and will continue to their aggression towards any threat to their ego.

I wrote a piece against fanboyism some time ago and you can see some good reactions and some negative reactions. I'm not sure if all the points are still applicable, but I think I was in a similar mindset to yours (fed up with fanboyism). http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=25504

@pbroy, it's not about taking it too seriously. It's about when the behavior becomes detrimental the community. Obviously we have mods and they do a good job handling the seriously detrimental behavior, but there is still lot of only slightly damaging behavior that gets through which adds up over time. I'm not a psycologist, but people have agreed with my observations so perhaps there is some truth to them.

Hey, we have it good here. This is nothing compared to N4G. Try reading some comments on there and you will know what I'm talking about.

The opposite also occurs.  An example is GTAIV, now that game has got so many perfect scores it defies logic.  I'm still confused as to how a game with so many bugs and graphical glitches is capable of getting a perfect score, IMO.

The problem is personal opinions cloud everyone's judgement, its just a matter of how your own clouded view perceives it.

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, Nintendo's main competition in the console market was Sega. Nintendo had the NES, Sega had the SMS. Nintendo had the SNES, Sega had the Genesis. During the Genesis era, Sega started running an aggressive ad campaign against Nintendo with the tagline "Genesis does what Nintendon't", basically touting the Genesis as a better, more powerful, and more fun machine. It would also seem to be the first shot fired in the ridiculous console war. People have been fighting over this crap ever since. Look it up on Youtube. The commercials are still up.

Also, OT, nice post, man. I wholeheartedly agree. There's so much more to life and gaming than arguing about things of such miniscule importance.

It's not personal if you post it on a forum for anyone to read....
