Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Man drives boat with Wii nunchuck (I kid you not)

http://www.destructoid.com/man-drives-boat-with-wii-nunchuck-97145.phtml

Tim Hirzel really likes boats and he apparently knows how to tinker with electronics. After more than a few lazy afternoons in his old boat, Mr. Hirzel decided that he needed something that would both cater to his “nerdiness” and his desire to have an autopilot in the future. The solution? He used a Wii nunchuck steering device.

At this point, I can’t pretend to understand the tech babble, but his blog mentions in decent detail the application of an Arduino programmed servo on the side of the motor mount to make this all possible. The boat controls with the joystick, buttons, and even the motion capabilities of the nunchuck. The best news is that the boat is working out splendidly as you can see from the above video.

I only wish I could do something cool like this. Personally, I would like to have an automated ashtray dumper controlled via an Xbox 360 controller. Sure, it speaks to my laziness, but it would be an awesome sight to lay your eyes on. Have you guys made anything like this? Is there anything you would like to make using a videogame peripheral?

Or a motorcycle. But that's kinda dangerous.

Feel free to add me as your friend-PSN ID: Bobo012893

As soon as a new game peripheral comes out there seems to always be an army of techno-wizards that storm in and use this stuff for crazy crap. i've seen wiimote controlled computers, cellphones, robots, and now boats. And I'm sure there is more, it never ceases to amaze me.

This guy is going to give Nintendo ideas on what kind of games to make next, just wait until next E3 when you have wii Canoe, wii paddle boat, and wii water ski

Just curious to why Beelzebub appears on the side of the boat at about 1:58 - 2:05?

YIKES!!

You saw that too?! And here I thought it was just me....

Anyways, I think this is the future in controlling vehicles in the future.....right next to computers driving it for you and such. Except in motorcycles....that would be too scary to try.
