The developer for Alone in the Dark, Eden Games, has said that the PS3 version does not have a release date because it is not performing as well the Xbox 360 version. "The thing is it's not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame rate and all that. We didn't want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer" said a rep. Eden Games insist that the PS3 version will have the same content as the Xbox 360 version.

 

"There's no firm date yet but what we can say is that it's coming out this year. In terms of why it's coming out later, we have the full game running on PS3 and all the features, no problem. The thing is it's not performing as well on PS3 as we hope it is in terms of frame rate and all that. We didn't want it to come out and have less of an experience for the PS3 gamer. We wanted to tweak that up and make sure they get the best experience on PS3 as much as possible."

She told PS3 owners: "It will be really worth it. It's something that we didn't want to deceive the players. That's why we preferred waiting. And I know it's tough but we want them to wait to be able to get that same experience."

LOL thats the flaw of the ps3, its rubbish for multi-plat games. Sony probably expect the ps3 to dominate like the ps2 and assumed it would always be the lead platform. But its not and exclusives on the hd console are becoming a thing of the past because of the astronomical dev cost. So the only games that are ever gonna have decent graphics are 1st party games. IMO the best PS exclusives games came from third partys on the ps1, ps2. Sony cant pump out first party hits the way Nintendo does.

Thank you Eden Games for delaying a game rather than releasing unpolished incomplete garbage. This is exactly the thought process that every developer should have - is this game as good an experience as we can hope to deliver? No? More development.

Actually, they shouldn't say it, they should just keep the secret and release both platform at the same time. GTA IV's delayed may also due to the same reason.

I don't know. Does it economically make sense to delay both games?

Their responsibilities are to the consumers (which they are fulfilling by releasing both games at the highest quality at the earliest possible dates) and to their shareholders.

Not to the console fans who want their game to get an equal share of any sales boost or bragging rights caused by getting the game on one console earlier.
