Forums - Gaming Discussion - I am truly annoyed at the wii

Sony and MS have been very successfull at making games which take weeks or months of playing before you have the necesssary skills and dexterity in your thumbs to play them. This has excluded all but the most desperate of Xbox 360 and PS2, PS3 owners from being able to play.

Clearly Sony's and MS's "Brilliant" strategy of making such unplayable games is working very well - they will have whatever remains of this niche market held in a very tight grip - good work Sony and MS don't let the Wii take any of your pathetic niche market now !.

The Wii on the other hand has made games which are easy to play and offer point and click or intuitive motion interfaces which anyone can pick up and play.

Wii is looking at taking over 50% of the entire market and i say good on them if they do.

Future prediction Wii 50%, PS3 25%, X360 25%

Don't worry it doesn't matter how well WII sells, 3rd party support will always be with PS360.

This is pretty much blatantly wrong, because these game companies are interested in making money.  If the Wii continues to sell like it is, and the wii software continues to sell as it is, you bet your ass 3rd party support will continue to move in their direction.

However that doesn't mean that PS3 / Xbox 360 will not get games.  As already stated, the market for games is huge.  There are plenty of consumers to support developing for both, although I do think that they are going to have to scale their production budgets back for the big HD games - but that is no fault of the wii.

A lot of us old school guys were huge 2d fans. You guys with your crappy 3d graphics loving casual newbs ruined it for us. So get use to it. You grew up in the Playstation era most likely and you expect games to stagnate and continue in the same direction. Many of us old schoolers would love to see 2d games pop up on the modern consoles way more frequently.

Just be glad that Nintendo hasn't been going out and telling developers not to make your games anymore. When Sony took over the market they told developers that only 3d games would be allowed on their system. What a load of crap!

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

He has a point however much Nintendo fanboys deny this , the Wii coud have a very damaging effect on the type/standar of game released.

It's like in the Music industry where Britney Spears and 50 Cent are considered legendary in their respective genres because they have a mass market apeal , MTV and so on promote these names because they know it's what the mass market wants regardless of MTV's personal views about the artists.

In actual fact 50 Cent and britney spears are pieces of sh*t that have little to no musical talent , there's homeless people with more talent than them but because they don't apeal to the mass market they have no place on MTV and so on.

Once Gears Of War and MGS cease to be viable financial options as opposed to releasing shoveware which can sell 10 milion copies with ease then the reasons to make highly expensive games like this decrease drasticly , people forget that developers mostly aren't making games because of a passion they have for games but because of the money they are able to receive from selling them , developers in their purest forms are businesses.

@Imperial: Read my post above yours...

We've seen this happen throughout the history of the games market. At one time single screen games were all the rage. Then we got side scrolling games which killed all the single screen games and the fans of those games cried out. After that we got 3d games which were and still are very clunky compared to 2d games. 3d games killed off the big 2d games.

The list continues on of things that WERE big and STOPPED being big. The market is ever changing.

hey man u worried too much the market of hardcore gaming will remain and so do the casual gaming market. just that the market share of hardcore gaming will never be as big as the casual ones. u wanna compete with those economically established housewives? grand parents? and btw, r u telling me square will stop producing FF? COD, gears, Halo, GTA franschise will be all discontinued?

gimme a break. when there is enough demand, the market will survive. n i am pretty sure there are tonnes of ppl like u and me tat are still anticipating for the upcoming exciting HD games

I completely agree with you. This isn't the first time the focus of the market has shifted and it won't be the last.

If you love core / hardcore games like the GTA, Oblivion, Gears of Wars and stuff, the WII ain't really your thing. I'm saying this for a long time. IMO, the WII is officially a console for the younger, unexperienced gamers and gamers who like to play casual games. Developers are giving an answer about that. Ubisoft producing Raving Rabbids 3 and Baby crap game on the WII, while on the PS3 you have the Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil. I'm not saying the WII doesn't have core games or won't get them, but when they do, or they sell bad, or they're from Nintendo and sell great as the franchise is already known by the Nintendo public (Mario, Zelda). Therefore WII has become less favorite to me and is no longer my favorite console, Playstation 3 is, like the PS2 was over the GC, like PS was over my N64. I don't bother at all that there are casual games being produced. Good for the market, good to get more people into the gaming, but with only a few exceptions, it ain't really my style. I really do like the style of the WII and the idea from the beginning, concerning the console, with using controllers on a complete different way, but the way its turning out to be for... I like a lot less.

I honestly don't have a clue what happened to you in between being Wii_girl and Onna.
I respects everyone's opinion, but you have turned into one of the most extreme Wii haters (even though you own one) on VGChartz (and gamed as well).

Ubisoft is a single example, for an unbiased perspective you could also have pointed at EA (Boom Blox, Sim City), Tecmo (Fatal Frame, Rygar), Capcom (Z&W, RE, Okami, Monster Hunter 3), Namco (Tales, Fragile), Marvelous (Project O), Sega (MadWorld), High Voltage (Conduit, Animales de la Muerte) etc.

All core games! And especially for you as a JRPG lover I don't understand why you would hate the Wii so much. Shiren the Wanderer (8.75 Famitsu), Oboro Moramasa, Crystal Bearers, Fire Emblem, Tales of Symphonia, Fragile, Project O, Monster Hunter. It's clear that Wii will have most Japanese support from now on. Rumours of Suikoden and Skies of Arcadia are pretty strong, Monolith will release a Wii RPG...

The younger unexperienced gamers story is blattant nonsense. If you want to finish Galaxy with 120 stars you have to be one hell of a gamer. Don't even get me started on Fire Emblem, which is the most hardcore game on any of the current gen systems.

And I didn't even mention the return of the lightgun games, or are those also casual all of a sudden?

So I don't care what your favorite system is, but please tell the whole story, not just one.

I totally agree with you

make that two

Make it three.  Onna got owned.

A shift from 2d to 3d games is completley different from a shift from Gears Of War to Carnival Games , don't put those two things in the same category . We're talking about a shift in the nature of games as opposed to the development and evolution of gaming. This is change we're talking about not development. Shifting from Gears of War to Carnival Games/Mario Kart will effectivley kill any interest I have in console gaming , I don't care how many copies it sells , who likes it and so on . All I care is that my GTA's , Killzones remain on the Playstation and the growth of the casual gaming market is threatening that, developers may no longer see making games I like as viable an option as they did previously. And what's your poit anyway ? that change is a good or beneficial thing ? in many cases it is however when that  means eliminating quality, blockbuster titles in place of shovelware low budged titles I think change in this situation pretty much sucks.
