Forums - Gaming Discussion - Second MGS4 review in -score 92 "story too complex"

Well okay...Call of Duty 4 is modern day (hence the name) and thats not plausible...when was the last time a nuclear warhead was detonated!?

Chance of nuclear warhead detonating: 1 in 1 million

Chance of cloned soldier dying, having someone take his arm, graft it to another human, and have said deceased soldier take control of original host body:  ...

I think you get my point.

I like to think that the MGS series is one of the better examples of story driven games, and that despite the rather obvious stretching of this (yes you sons of liberty!) the series' story is credible and certainly more feasable than the likes of Turok or Gears of War (although Gears is probably not the best example to have used...)

A point i acknowledged

You dont have to be smart to play or enjoy MGS, but it would be a hell of a lot better if reviewers didnt criticise a game for BEING smart

You’re assuming (of course) that Metal Gear Solid is smart, and not an incredibly convoluted story that strains creditability and hides the lack of real insight through the use of unnecessarily complex story elements.

I think MGS2 is good enough assurance to go by that MGS4 will be damn smart and insightfull.

How many soldiers do you think can jump onto a missle and redirect it so they're safe?

Hey guys remember this magazine is most appealing to casual gamers, therefore, so called cons are pluses to hardcore gamers like us. Especially when the cons are things like a complex story and a ton of shooting.

Well who the hell complains a story is too complex? Only somebody with a small brain or ADD. That kind of reviewer should stick to reading NUTS magazine.

So I am going to assume you actually read German then and understand what the guy was paraphrasing. Cause if you don't what you are basing your judgment on is the internet translation of a second hand, shortened review of the game. You might want to redirect your attention to bill007's posts in this thread. The exact complaint seems to be along the lines of the story being too bewildering. In other words, it is probably a convulted mess.
