1)This isn't about legality.

You just made a huge paragraph about consumer rights...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I think he was coming from a moral perspective rather than a legal one.

Thank god there are no installation limits. With Spore I wouldn't mind, it looks like it will be one of those games that you never uninstall, just like Civ and SimCity (well, SimCity is not anymore), but with ME it would be an issue for me.

 If EA was on Steam...

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I was so disappointed about the every 10 day plan so I'm glad EA listened to their customers whining. Spore is back on my to buy list.

I'm still not a fan of limited installs(or activations) but oh well...

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

Can you propose a better solution?

Easy? Don't harass customers with crap like that?

Tell me right now. How would you solve the problem of people reselling the game while keeping their own activated?

Requiring a DVD to play? As always? If someone uses a crack he won't have these DRM problems anyway.

If there isn't enough copyright protection, there will be a flood of pirated and resold games from people who can still play the game.

Bullshit. Pirated copies do not have these problems anyway because they crack the copy protection. Therefore this activation bullshit isn't more secure than requiring a DVD to play.

In the end its pretty clear that this isn't intended to stop pirates. (Because they will be the only people who do not have any problems playing it after they have removed the protection). But its a convenient way to stop people who have bought it legally from reselling their game.

Conclusion: EA sucks.

Well I think it is intended to stop pirates...doesn't mean it works well though. You're assuming all the pirates will have no problem with the DRM...it's still better than nothing.

I guess I'm just pissed that people would skip a game because of something like DRM. Seems like a silly reason to completely skip over a good game.

This definitely alleviates my concerns about the game, I'll probably still grab a crack of ME like I did for Bioshock but Spore I'm fine with since I have to be on the net anyways.

To Each Man, Responsibility

This kind of DRM crap is indefensible, simply because it doesn't hurt pirates at all. In a few days, there will be a crack, so the only users affected will be the legal ones.

They didn't even remove the verification, they made it so you have to be online for it to do it thats all. If your offline then your fine.
