This is a pretty flawed analysis IMHO. The 360 is selling better this year than last and is still clearly going strong - but it doesn't have a chance of catching Wii unless sales for the console collapse (which is looking extremely unlikely).

Sony have a slim chance of catching Wii but I think its very unlikely. All the evidence right now says that Wii will end up ahead with PS3 next and 360 last place.

Personally I don't care where my console is and the one thing that's not going to happen is for any of the consoles to 'die' or lose games support, all are doing too well now - so 360 owners should be cool and enjoy their console as nothing 'bad' is going to happen, ditto for PS3.

And yet the Wii continues to trounce the 360 WW...

The fact is the 360 has best library for hardcore / shooter fans while Wii appeals by far to widest gaming demographic - and like it or not there's far more 'casual' gamers out there than hardcore / shooter fans.

Also, while a great library is vital, people want the latest games, and if you look at recent months the fact is 360 and PS3 seem identical.  Want GTA IV, you can get it on either, want AC, ditto, same for COD4, etc. etc.  As for exclusives God of War, GT, etc. easily line up against Halo, etc.

But this is all moot.  360 has sold really well but the Wii is the one right now and for the foreseeable future while the PS3 is catching up on 360 and is sure to at least finish even or slightly ahead if not reasonably far ahead of 360 in the end.

Quite right apart from the PC part. As is now coming clear now that NPD is looking at online games (subscription) the PC market in MMO is massive and literally raking in millions.

The PC market has changed, losing a lot of FPS/MP players to 360 in US and 360/PS3 WW - but it is still an extremely strong platform, just in different demographics now.  WoW, Eve, Lord of Rings Online, etc. are all money machines while Sims, etc. is also massive on PC as well.

Shame about FPS weaking on the platform though, as its still the best platform for those games but I guess for the majority of 16 to 26 year olds a console is much more affordable way to play COD4 online plus, judging by Crysis, piracy is also more of an issue for those genres too.

bad, bad defence me friend. i can't believe somebody hasn't ripped this to shreds yet. how could you possibly use this some kind of arguement?? 360 HAS MORE GAMES to get rated, how can you compare? 360 porbably has double the library the ps3 does, there's a reason for that too: it's been out a year longer. they don't have even near the same amount of games so how could you use this as any sort of evidence?

I know everyone dismissed my earlier post but like I said nothing much will change popular mindshare, at least in America.

For example, this morning on a radio show called Drex in the Morning on a Clear Channel station (a huge radio syndicated enterprise in America) had its hosts talk about video games and literally bashed the PS3 for not being worth it and they talked up Nintendo like its was greatest thing since slice bread. Completely ignored the the 360. Now this radio show is focus heavily in the women demographics of 18 to 45 and have a fair share of men demographics. 

These people don't play video games like we do. But they don't have a problem talking about what is popular and what is not popular and telling all their fans that. Most people follow popular trends blindly because their favorite people/stars say it is and don't think on their own. I am not saying Nintendo don't deserve it but they accomplished what they needed to do in this country, to get people to say that Nintendo Wii is cool and you should buy one. And in this country, that all you need to do to win.  And that PS3 is bad because it has no games and to expensive.  That all people will remember for a long time until someone better tells them its cool.  But even then its to late to turn it around, people will still think that PS3 is bad.  Or 360s breaks, don't buy one until a better model comes out.  Popular mindshare, popular mindshare...

ZOMG!! The 360 has been out a year longer? No way!  Remain calm, I will address the issue..

We, 360 gaming users/Fanboys/Hardcore gamers, judge gaming consoles by the quality of its games library, We use websites such as Metacritic.com and Gamerankings.com, to demonstrate our point. Of course the 360 will have more games because its been out longer, we're not denying it, we're sticking it in your face.

Now if people here are unhappy about how games are reviewed by the media then do something about it. Start websites and start judging 360 games and be counted on M.com and G.com, and then your personal opinions will actually mean something.

I'm kinda newish to the forums, but does anyone else find it funny that people who are Sony fans see that the 360 has better games but they use the "quality of a game is completely subjective depending on who's playing it" but when it comes to the Wii's gaming library they have no problem saying it is full of crappy games, cash ins, and shovelware....Interesting. Can't those games that are considered crappy or cash ins be a quality game to some? I personally have played Carnival Games more than Halo 3... Lol. I am being serious though...
