1. Buy a PS3 or Nintendo Wii instead.

2. Ensure room is well ventilated.

4. Do not buy GTA IV.

5. Do not play during a storm.

6. Do not buy an anti-cooler works for some people but can give you the red rings of death and void your warranty.

7. Avoid standing 360 vertically. Horizontal also reduces disk scratching

8. Try to reduce your gamin hours but im not sayin you should but this method is effective.

9. Try to clear the dust in your 360 your 360 needs to breath so the dust might cover up the wholes.

10. Do not put your 360 in real hot areas its best to get a warm or cold place.

- Purchase a NEW 360.. DO NOT BUY 360 OFF AMAZON, CRAIGLISTS, EBAY, or YOUR FRIENDS

#1 Way to avoid smashing your ps3 due to waiting for those already delayed titles.

Buy a xbox360 where the games are a plenty. 

There are 360s that will RROD no matter how well you take care of it and 360s that won't break no matter how back you treat it. I'm on my second 360 and it gets the same treatment as my old RROD 360, needless to say, my current 360 has never RROD on me before (but has disk read errors, but that's another problem all together).

Welcome to VGchartz "UlimateFigher".... now GTFO. no one needs to "smash" a PS3 due to waiting for delayed titles, there are other games to play, it's not hard to grasp. Either way, sometimes it's better to have delayed titles than  titles that just completely fall off the map for akwardly long periods of time. This thread already has a little flamebait to begin with don't stir it up some more.

anyway, the way i see it is it's a hardware defect, i don't think it can be prevented, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. my 360 sits in a similar position to my ps3, both have enough room to breathe and never get too hot. i'm fortunate though, never had hardware probelms with any of my consoles. i never even suffered the d.r.e problems with the brick ps2.

I've seen mothers do far less than that for their children...
