Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii's "Big Hitters" Averaging low 80's in Reviews..No One Cares?

I could care less about reviews .....I play game to have fun . The reviews for Turok Evolution,Crusin USA, Marvel Nemesis, Zoids ect had pretty bad reviews, but I still bought them had tons of fun spent countless hours on them. Try it if you like it buy it ....simple .

There is a certain level of hypocrisy with how games are reviewed ...

For some reasons a reviewer will look at Halo 3 and ignore its weak single player gameplay and give it an excellent score because of how great its multiplayer gameplay is; at the same time, this type of focus is denied for games like Mario Kart, Mario Party and other heavily multiplayer focused games. At the same time a reviewer will look at Bioshock and see its lack of multiplayer gameplay as a strength while docking marks from Metroid Prime 3 for lacking a multiplayer element.

I'm not saying that these games should receive similar scores, but the criteria for how a game gets the score it receives should be fair and predictable; these reviewers shouldn't constantly change the review criteria to justify higher scores for some games or to justify lower scores for other games.

LOL the irony in this forum is getting thicker. How about a round of /dramatic music ninjabread man.

He wrote "few", not "none". Although there a bit more than a few crappy games, but certainly not by Nintendo (BTW, what is their lowest scoring game).

As for the reviews, I'm sure Nintendo execs are lamenting them by using paper money for kleenex.

Some of my favorite books, movies and tv shows were blasted by 'critics'. I'd say that the average scores on most of the entertainment I enjoy receive relatively low scores.

Why should games be any different?

Thank-you!!

How many summer blockbusters get great reviews?  Very few.  How many get an award?  Aside from LoTR I don't know of any in recent times.  Are they considered failures or unfairly reviewed?  No.   If they fail to make millions then and only then are they a failure.     Heaven Sword failed to sell large amounts, Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit have already sold millions.

Wow if you actually read what I was saying and didn't misquote you would know I was talking about the Wii franchise (WiiSports, WiiPlay, and WiiFit as of now) which are not "crappy" games and infact are awesomely fun games.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

I'd like to blame Wii Fit for this thread.

If it were left to critics, there would be no Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, Beverly Hillbillies, etc. And an entire generation would have been left with no sense of humor.

No Star trek either..

I just think its funny that Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii both average under 83% (meaning they are about as good as Heavenly Sword) yet no one seems to care. Is Wii Fit the last big hitter announced this year for the Wii?

I mean they will probably still sell, but it will just prove once again that the Wii sells any crappy game with Wii or Mario infront of it. Im happy to see that reviewers have stopped giving Nintendo a free pass on games and actually started judging by quality over hype. Is there anything left on the Wii for the rest of the year thats already announced or are they going to pull and EA and release Mario____08 with updated rosters?

They gotta have something big planned for E3, but if they announce Wii cooking or anything of that nature I think im going to piss myself from laughter, lol.

At the risk of earning my first ever VGChartz ban and never ever having said anything rude or controversial I really have to say in this instance that you are either joking or extremely stupid.
