He's talking about Overwatch specifically. Not other games. As such if you at any point need to unistall it you'll have to afterwards download everything again. So if you have limited internet it makes no sense to buy an online-only game. It's silly not include a cart in the box, yes, but in this specific case it's not much different than having it digital-only even if there was a cart.

This argument still doesn't fly because if someone has 40GB data a month for example they've already factored in their usage of online play so saying it's an online only game is a null and void point because those buying the game would be like yeah and? Everything in future such as patches over months and any possible uninstall they would have accounted for on their own accord this is simply not a valid defence at all for not having a cart in any context otherwise just don't have a physical version that's not physical and just be fully digital so people know beforehand so they can account for it, Call of Juarez a single player game has notified players it would need to be fully downloaded on its announcement so Blizzard could have as well.

If they can calculate their usage for upcoming patches that we have zero idea about in terms of size or scope, the amount of data for regular gameplay and of course take into consideration the amount of data required for a complete reinstall...

Then they can account for the data needed for the initial install.

You are talking 10 gigs + patches and an SD card is a thing. The crux of it though is having the cart and on that issue you both agree. If you buy a "physical" copy you should have the cart, otherwise (as evidenced by those pissed off) you mislead people and are putting out JUST A BOX which is environmentally irresponsible. EDIT it is also financially irresponsible but it's Blizzard's money to piss away as long as retailers are getting the cut they need to cover labor associated with handling an empty box.

Their usage is over many months and in future if they have to uninstall they would have prepared for that they would not have prepared for downloading the full 10GB-12GB of the game after buying a physical copy this is not a valid defence because no indication of of it being download only was ever given at most they would have accounted for a possible day 1 patch.
