Forums - Sony Discussion - Legend of dragoon is an awful, uninteresting slog of a game and i don't like it

Well, that's really a matter of personal opinion. The Legend of Dragoon is literally my 2nd favourite game of all time, so there's very little about the game that I don't like. The battle system is among my favourites ever, as it doesn't just sit you down passively selecting things from a list but actually demands you to do something in battle. As far as the visual style is concerned, I've always liked it a lot.

Fair, and i'm happy you could get enjoyment out of it then. I for sure didn't.

You know my biggest gripe with that era till the current era (playstation) is always going to be insane amount of load times and yes I do remember it being horrible. It really does need makeover for the modern era just make that bearable.

I've mentioned this before on this site, but as much as I enjoyed the PS, the loading eventually wore me down to the point that I went "all in" on the N64 in spring/summer 98' and sold my PS and games. I had lots of fun with it but the N64 was hitting it's stride, and covered everything nicely until the Dreamcast launched. Funny thing, I'm currently playing Cyberdimension Neptunia: 4 Goddesses Online on the PS4, and it has the most atrocious loading/boot-up sequence I can maybe ever remember. Tallying the unskippable boot-up credits and the nonsensical loading sequence, it takes roughly 4 minutes to get from the dashboard to the point that you're playing. In game loading is fast at least.

Which is why people shouldnt make light of the PS5 being able to load things like in 1/10th the time of the PS4.

In a thread here, someone was passing it off as a "meh thats not impressive" thing, but honestly massively reduced loading times is a bigger than than just slightly better looking games (imo), since games already look so darn good.

Quality of life improvement from loading times, shouldnt be underestimated.

Yes, it's a joke.

I mean, it's kinda obvious, really. It's like making a thread called "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is an awful, uninteresting slog of a film and I don't like it" and expect people not to mention me. They're gonna joke about it, it's inevitable.

I just wanted to make sure because i don't trust people on the internet.

With their release on the Switch, I played FFIX and FFX back to back and the difference in load time and overall speed of battle between both games is huge! I dreaded battles in FFIX because of how really incredibly slow everything is, from loading the battle, to the camera panning around 5 times and even after inputting a command the character readies himself and then attacks much later. FFX is so much more efficient about moving things along.

Signature goes here!

Legend of dragoon was a very average when it came out the only thing about that stood out were the graphics which had a ff look, like the original post says, the story and characters were very forgettable, but I did enjoy the battle system, overall I had a good time it kept me busy while waiting for other square rpgs.

What really surprises me is the amount of praise the game gets these days, many people consider it amounts the best psx games, I really don’t get it the psx had so many amazing rpgs and people consider lod one of the best really???

For those new comers to old rpgs I think you should be careful with “cult” favorites, many people just praise some games because not many people played them, I had a terrible experience with panzer dragoon saga, I had to play it since I love jrpgs, once I found a working Saturn emu, actor I played it and hated every second. So if you are new to classic jrpgs I think you should start with the most beloved ones and then you can search for the more niche ones at your own risk.

Guess I better trade in my copy.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Loved it back then.
Cant play it nowadays tho. Aged horribly and it shows.
