Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 Won April NPD ( PS4 > NSW > XBO)

Holy shit @ps4,i knew vgcharts where of by a huge margin,ps4 prob did about 350-450k gow week.

Gigantic sales,just imagine a ps4 250 gow bundle,or even a 199.95 pricecut.

But yes, sony is going to cut down ps4 life with a ps5 launch in 2019,lol NOO

The success level of PS4 holds no restraints on when they will launch the PS5.  The PS1 and PS2 both shipped 20M+ the year before their successors were launched.  If Sony feels they are ready and want to keep momentum on their side, they will launch.  And the PS4 will continue to sell at $199.

As long as ram prices are in the doldrums, nobody is going to launch anything in the foreseeable future. And for the same reason, selling current consoles at $199 means losing money left and right, something only MS is seemingly forced to do.

Switch shortages confirmed? It was going to outsell  or at least outship the PS4 if I remember correctly.

Really?? We're still doing this rhetoric in May?

I don't think you get how these shipment estimate things work.

Nintendo says they are gonna ship 20M for the fiscal years starting apr 1st 2018 and ending march 31st 2019. That does not mean they plan on selling 20M consoles. They could even very well expect to sell 17.5M consoles and have around 2.5M in the channels then ship very little units in the first quater of the start of the next fiscal year.

Now we just need it to work about 5 more times in say over 7 NPDs then we can really say it works. Good start though.

I don't see  sell through at 17.5 million as possible. if they sell 17.5 million, 2.5 million isn't all that much. i think sell through will be around 14 million.

So you emerge from the abyss? You've been mighty quiet until today...

It was sarcastic, besides isn't it already in May. Unlike the previous fiscal year Nintendo has set higher shipment targets than Sony. So yes I would expect bigger numbers for the Switch.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Seeing those numbers I wonder why anyone is suggesting that Sony should create a PS4 hybrid like the Switch.

You will be shocked how much PSVR sales number compared to Switch numbers, or even PS vita sales, or even worse " PSP " sales . But i guess i just seeing from business perspective in a whole, not just relying in NPD in one month???

Aquamarine is saying “Poor Labo” as well but we can’t judge their sales until at least a (insert random children’s holiday, birthday or Christmas)

The mistake comes from people not understanding the demo.  Expecting adults, with the purchasing power mind you, to be taken by this is a critical thinking issue for some.  LABO may not have sold 'well' but that is only in the context that it could compete in a market dominated by adults.  I continue to believe that it did well for what it was.

Labo had like 5 million views for its announcement trailer on youtube on its first day alone.

I expected more given the hype surrounding it.

If someone asks why I'm using an alt account, CGI and Truckusaurus got me a temp approval until I get my iconic and notorious "kurasakiichimaru" account back. :p

It was sarcastic,

Yes, it's also overused, and contrived at this point. Maybe it was amusing in January but in May it's beating a dead horse.

its NPD day lol, but yea switch is doing great, it passed the test for me after march NPD. labo was another huge test, if it was a huge hit 20 million could have been possible imo. now i think it will sell similar to 2017 which is still pretty great.
