It was a reply to a guy that said he though it would only do 2m lifetime sales.
Why I posted it? because I think the "head" of Famitsu, knows better than some random user on this site.
If he think it has the potential to reach 10m, its def. going to go over 2m..... people proclaiming doom & gloom for MHW are nuts. the Pre-orders and Beta try-outs have gone really well.

Isn't that a revisionist interpretation of the post you quoted?
Breaking 5 million is a tall order, but it's possible, especially since it's a multiplat. That said, I don't think it will get that high. 2-3 million is my estimate.
^ That doesn't look like a hard prediction of 2 million max.
The appeal to authority argument is pretty lazy and unconvincing, especially when one observes the available data, known facts about the series, and acknowledges that the guy one is citing is the head of a magazine publication company, not a sales analyst. It's like saying "I think the electronics analyst Michael Pachter knows better than some random user on this site" except worse.

I definitely did not say hard prediction of 2 million, ha ha. My ESTIMATE is 2 to 3 million, which could easily be very wrong anyway.
And I don't think 10 million is possible unless it absolutely explodes in the West. Current trends for the series suggest around 50% of sales will be in Japan, and with 6 million PS4 (likely to grow by another million at least very quickly once the game launches), it would have to have an install rate out of this world and more sales then any other game in the series in the west to do it. But, again, that's just an ESTIMATE, people. I'm not claiming outcome I say is fact or going to be anywhere close to it.
And, don't use Amazon charts as an absolute gauge, more of a feeling the water kind of thing. Games can chart very high there but still turn in expected numbers or drop off very quickly depending on tons of factors. I don't doubt MH:W is going to have a good launch though.
