Oh Inhumans. As I said previously, there has to be something at the bottom of every list and while I felt sorry to label Iron Fist that for the Marvel/Netflix bunch, I say so with a kind of relish for Inhumans. Maybe I’m still steaming over the loss of Agent Carter. But this series is so laughable in execution. Not quite into “so bad it’s good” territory, but enough that I finished it without ever becoming overly frustrated and wanting to walk away. High praise indeed!

The cast is likable enough, and some of them do try very hard to elevate the material they are given. But they’re written in such a bland manner, it’s good they got actors people don’t hate. Ken Leung as Karnak would be the prime example. He imbues his character with enough humor that his schtick never really gets old. But I think the real standout is Anson Mount as Black Bolt. Due to his Inhuman powers, he cannot speak and Mount is forced to convey everything through his face. While this frees him from the dreadful dialogue, it also puts enormous pressure on the actor. But Mount succeeds and I found myself smiling at a lot of his expressions. He was recently announced to be playing Captain Christopher Pike on Star Trek: Discovery and I think he’s a solid choice to follow in Jeffrey Hunter and Bruce Greenwood’s footsteps.

But again, there’s always a worst and for Inhumans that is Iwan Rheon as Maximus. How do you take one of the characters you loved to hate the most from Game of Thrones and turn them into this whiny, uninteresting a-hole you just want to slap rather than kill? Ramsay was filled with charm and menace. None of that is on display here. His scenes were the ones I wanted to fast forward through the most in this rewatch. You need someone charismatic here. Whether Rheon just decided to phone it in or Ramsay was more the product of great writing than acting, I don’t know. But he is possibly the worst villain in the entire MCU.

If you want to be a Marvel completist, go ahead and watch Inhumans. You won’t love it but I don’t think it’ll be as much of a chore as it would seem if you go in with low enough expectations. But it’s entirely skippable and given its brief, pointless life, I doubt will come back into play in the MCU. But never say never!

Again, I have not watched the Defenders so if anyone has and wants to provide some thoughts, feel free to do so. This will be last pilot rewatch for me. Please don’t be too upset. 😉

Scores updated to this point.

I haven't seen Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok yet but I kinda want to see Infinity War regardless.

Also, I voted for Captain America as the best sub-series because it's the more consistent:

Iron Man: Great - Bad - Didn't see
Thor: Okay - Didn't see - Didn't see
Captain America: Okay - Awesome - Great
The Avengers: Great - Meh
Guardians of the Galaxy - Great - Meh

Why did they releaes it to close to avengers? No release of the dvd bluray yet :(, cant even torrent it lol

I think i am going to see it in shit quality before saturday....

With regards to how close the films are, Marvel has upped their schedule to three films a year. Ant-Man and Wasp is out in July, less than three months after Infinity War. With regards to Black Panther, check your local theatre. It’s still playing in a lot of them

I just saw Black Panther a few days ago in theaters, so yeah.

The last of the television show advisories! The Punisher and Runaways, on Netflix and Hulu respectively, premiered between Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. I haven’t seen either of these but I want to. The Punisher was one of the better facets of the second season of Daredevil and Runaways has decent reviews. If anyone would like to post some musings, feel free!

I still owe a Ragnarok rewatch which will be tomorrow. I feel like the guy still working on his final paper while everyone else is celebrating summer. Vek can attest that’s pretty much true to life for me

Thor 3: 8/10
I watched this for the first time on Sunday and I don't really have much to say. It took everything I hated about the first 2 Thor movies and got rid of them. It's essentially a parody of the first 2 Thor movies and makes fun of everything that the Thor franchise has done poorly. I know this movie is insulting to some fans who loved the mythology behind Thor and enjoyed the first 2 Thor movies, but I enjoy it much more. The movie is really funny and a has a great cast of characters that all look like they're having fun in the role. There isn't a single serious moment that they don't undercut with a joke and I love that about it. The movie also looks really pretty. My favorite shot is the landscape shot in the beginning of the movie where Thor is flying away from Surtur. I really enjoyed this movie and hope that the MCU continues with this direction for any of their more generic movies. Some problems like inappropriate music placement stuck out to me in the beginning, but it's not that big of a deal. It's not an Oscar worthy movie, but it is one of the most enjoyable movies out of the universe.

Funny skit! Chris Evans needs to shave that mustache though.
