Forums - Gaming Discussion - I started playing GTA 3 again

GTA 3 on PS2 was one of my favorite games of the gen. I also briefly owned 3 copies the broken Xbox double pack ( which was unable to save game progress on certain models of Xbox, including mine. ) Right out of the gate, when booting GTA 3 up on the PS4, I had massive problems with how it looked. The graphics were ass, the frame-rate was sub-par, and the motion blur was like digital vaseline. It took me a solid 30 minutes to adjust, and even longer to start enjoying it again. Back in 2001, I used to pop GTA 3 in and just mess around with the the cops more than I actually progressed the story. In fact, I never finished it until the PS4 digital re-release, and when playing it again, didn't find the whole "cops and robbers" play sessions nearly as appealing. I'd still rank GTA 3 as #3 in the GTA games I've played, and a great classics overall but boy, that initial shock of returning to it 13 years after my first experiences was kinda surprising.

Tonight I beat the mission where you drop Ray off to the airport and get rewarded with an armoured patriot. I'll be saving that for later for the hard mission near the end.

68 packages collected. Next session I'll finish them off. 70 taxi fares completed. Only 30 more for the trophy. Making serious progress on the import export quest too.

About 43% complete. A lot done but a lot more to do.

The import/export mission is one the missions where you gather the various vehicles, right? I always enjoyed those. I wish I was at home because I have some crazy screenshots of what is considered to be the one of the most difficult vehicles to find. Will try to post tomorrow.

Was an absolute classic on PS2 followed by an even better sequel Vice City, and an impressive follow up Sna Andreas, all top quality games. Modern GTA rivals Legend of Zelda in terms of quality IMO and thats saying something. If only i could het both series on the same console........

Yeah that's it. Post those screenshots when you get a chance!

Yeah I love them all but vice city and San andreas were definitely better than 4. Nico is my favourite protagonist though.

Try playing 4 again after 3/VC/SA. I used to think VC/SA were better than 4 but after replaying them all again this year and seeing just how big an improvement 4 was over SA my opinion of 4 has greatly improved!

Yeah I agree. I actually meant for the time they released they were better. 4 has definitely aged better.

So today I completed all fire fighter missions. Got the vigilante trophy and also got the paramedic level 12 which was a bitch.

I've almost done the 100 taxi fares and all 100 packages have been found.

I also finished all the pay phone missions.

Lastly I've done 7 of the rampages. All the ones on the third island. They are challenging but not impossible so far.

A shit load of progress but more to do.

Yes but I fear something will glitch out and cost be it. It cost be the gta 4 platinum and it would have cost me the gta v platinum if I didn't persist with it for months to beat the bug.

Even though some missions are pretty tough, I can safely say that the GTA 3 plat should be easier for you to obtain than those from 4 and 5. It definitely possible to make things more difficult though. I remember messing up and making rampages and other activities very difficult in the Italian territory with their terrible one hit shotgun kills. Can't recall encountering any bugs in my run.

Yeah well unfortunately I'll have the same problem in that territory. Not looking forward to it but it has to be done.
