So, they say they'll bring purchasable crystals back at a later date. So, they're just waiting until this blows before before trying to bring them back.

But they also say progression won't be paid. I'm sure they will bring back paid micro transactions but only for co-op or for cosmetics.

Where do they say that they're permanently removing the ability to get Star Cards etc. out of Loot Boxes? The way it sounds to me is that now you can just earn that stuff through progression on top of acquiring them via Star Cards.

I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Nice to hear we're winning the battle. Once they tweek the amount of credits needed to buy things and/or the credit earning rate to an appropriate level, I don't mind them adding paid micro-transactions back in. Would be nice if star cards were completely dropped, but they're so fundamentally built into the game at this point I don't see that happening.

Reading the statement with typical PR bullshit in mind:

  • Crystals are only being removed temporarily. For how long? We don't know. Could be a week, could be a month, could be 3 months.
  • "all progression will be earned through gameplay" I'm missing a very important word here: "just", it should say "all progression will be earned just through gameplay". Nowhere does it say that they're removing Star Cards from Loot Crates.

By the way, rumor has it that Disney stepped in and asked EA to fix this mess because they don't want to see the Star Wars name dragged through the muck by EA any longer xD

I'm fully expecting them to re-introduce the same exact model a few months from now with 2 changes:

  • On top of relying on luck for getting Star Cards, you can now just buy them using credits (and a lot at that)
  • Customization items for characters and guns in loot boxes

I'm betting that loot boxes will still contain Star Cards.

if i were into FPS games... now I would jump in.

On this topic I once said that gamers should talk with their wallets. Supporting the game now will mean that we are in support of an MTX free world.

That shit was getting out of hand.

too bad progression is still insanely slow and it will take you tens of hours to unlock ONE hero. Not to mention they claim that they'll implement stuff 'later' in a vague fashion.

Who's to say they don't just wait a month for everyone to buy the game, then put the microtransactions back in? I don't know. It's fishy to me. They're trying to save face last minute when it's clearly not something the really want to do.

I'd take EA seriously if they had went bold and said "you know, we've listened to the 1 million downvotes and will have NO microtransactions in Battlefront". I mean jesus, they were treating this game like a free-to-play game rather than a $60 purchase. Just disgusting.

So literally nothing has changed except all the microtransaction shit is temporarily unavailable. Give it a few weeks and it will be the exact same as it was before. That's not pulling an Xbox One, MS didn't re-add all their shitty policies after the Xbox One released.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702
