So Destiny 2 is finally about release; as a newcomer to the franchise (due to being a PC gamer) I feel it would be wise to acquire advice.

So, what is the optimal way to enjoy this game?
Do you have any advice for new players; or is it just a, kill things kind of game?

depends on the type of player you are i suppose... the game pretty much breaks down into pve activities and pvp activities

i personally enjoy playing against other players so i tend to play the pvp activities more

the pve side is broken up into various team oriented activities - such as exploring the world and killing bad guys to collect gear, strikes where your objective is to follow a path with a boss at the end, raids which are pretty much very large and complex strikes

there's also the campaign which has a story i suppose

and the list goes on, despite what many people say destiny in my opinion has more replay value and better gameplay ( the controls and mechanics are very good ) than most other games, but i suppose you'll have to decide for yourself

i'm waiting for the pc launch later today but i started playing destiny 1 close to the end of the first year

Is the story any good?

I generally play as sniper or assult classes.
I don't care at all for PvP.

Will I be able to kill enemies in one shot?

The story is better than the first, but it's nothing to brag about.

Some sniper rifles will be able to kill enemies in one shot, but not tougher enemies and bosses.

I prefer PvE as well - the game does a good job of seamlessly working with others in things like public events. I generally don't play co-op stuff, but its probably my favorite part of the game.

Can I drag my co-op partner through the story, or is that solo only?

"Is the story any good?"

well we'll have to wait and see, i've only bought it for pc

"I generally play as sniper or assult classes."

classes in destiny generally determine the types of abilities your character can use

all classes can use the various weapon types which include snipers

"Will I be able to kill enemies in one shot?"

weaker enemies could be one shotted with headshots from what i remember

I'm pretty sure you can co-op, but not 100% positive. I know there are sections where there are other players around, so I would think so.

coop is an option for every part of the game, excluding the raid and trials ( the endgame pvp and pve modes ) where its required

The story is trash.

I would have told you to save your money if I had seen this thread before. You enjoying the crucible at least?
