What is the best selling game in JP as of now?

This generation or current platforms, what ever you want to call it, Animal Crossing New Leaf. Home console's only either Dragon Quest PS4 or the original Splatoon. (I think they're around the same right now but Dragon Quest XI should overtake it soon)

Not the same yet and DQ might take it of it legs out (also depends when switch version comes out)

Splat1 sold over 1.7mil in japan, ship+digital lifetime will probably be estimated between 1.75mil-1.85mil.

DQ ps4 has almost sold 1.4mil in retail + huge digital (like 150k?) Makes it sold about 1.55mil. +shipments left over (its selling under 3k a week now) its p

robably sitting at 1.65mil. End of year maybe 1.7mil? Itll be close. It has a chance at almost 2mil but i dunno (again under 3k a week now) but it has 1 holiday

i wonder what pokemon switch attach rate gonna be in japan or will splatoon overthrown pokemon . who knows find out on the next episode of dragon ball z :D

Splatoon2 will easily win, Splatoon even on Wii U had attach rate of around 50%, highest selling Pokeomon game on 3DS have around 15-20% attach rate.

To be fair if Pokemon Switch launched this year it would probably have a better attach rate in Japan than Splatoon

I am not sure, I can see that even Pokemon has attach rate bigger than around 70%, also Splatoon on Wii U has one of best attach rates ever, Splatoon popularity is huge in Japan maybe even bigger than for Pokemon.

There's nothing to "not be sure" about. Even if Splatoon 2 sells more than any recent pokemon game in Japan, it would be more reliant on legs than Pokemon since Pokemon had an even bigger establishes fanbase. Basically, 7 months in it would be nearly impossible for Splatoon 2 to have a bigger attach rate in Japan than Pokemon theoretically would, lifetime sales would be a different argument entirely.

Off Course I can say I am not sure about that because we don't talk about facts when we say what would sell better. I dont agree that would be nearly impossible for Splatoon 2 to have a bigger attach rate in Japan than Pokemon theoretically would, Splatoon 2 could definatly had bigger attach rate compared to Pokemon would have.

Well that's not what I said, I said 7 months in. Every mainline Pokemon game sold better than Splatoon 2's debut by quite a bit, except for Crystal Version(you know ... the game that came out like one year before the GBA).

But yeah, I guess it's not fair to say you can't have any amount of unsureness. Would be cool if Splatoon 2 became as big as Pokemon(tbf it wouldn't be surprising lifetime)

I don't think that would impossible even for first 7 months. Splatoon 2 couldn't sell much more because Switch shortages and limited instal base.

We will see how strong Pokemon will be on Switch, difrence now is that will be on home console and handheld in same time, It will definatly be very strong, but if will be stronger than Splatoon2 that a question. Difference is also that will probably not have Splatoon 3 on Switch so Splatoon 2 will sell whole life time of Switch, while will probably have at least two Pokemon games on Switch.

Well I don't think Splatoon 2 will ever do 10M+, I think 10M is it's cap, and even that is highly debatable. I was more so going off the idea that maybe .. idk ... a Pokemon remake sells poorly, or Pokemon's first Switch game "bombs"(not really).

regarding splatoon 3  : http://www.vgchartz.com/article/269881/splatoon-2-tops-2-million-units-sold-worldwide-at-retail/

Seems people disagree with you : D

I used to think that Splatoon 3 wouldn't be on Switch, I still kind of don't. But it's a little bit more debatable now, seems like with all their big new franchises Nintendo historically prefers to strike when the iron is hot.
