Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Donkey Kong Country in Unreal Engine

It looked fine until I played the video...then it started to look like a Chinese knockoff that would probably be called 'Golden Monkey Province' or something.

Shows promise. The sun is too bright though.

The original looks amazing as is. No need to remake everything. It's played out.

Looks like a shitty 2008 era XBLA game, no offense.

UE4 is awesome but these quickly made tributes to old classics with assets from the store and terrible animations are just shit. I really detest those Zeruda in UE4 videos where Link's animations are even worse than Superman 64.

Too much contrast and the colour palette for the backgrounds doesn't really suit the series either ...

Yeah. Doesn't stay true to the original.
Music is off, lacking depth of the original sound track, especially in the bass.

The map is way off... The first level for instance didn't have an abundance of snakes and barrels.

Visually it looks okay.

But I think what needs to be put into perspective is that this is not being made by a AAA professional team with millions in development budgets... And with that in mind I think they have done rather well.

I would rather they did a pre-rendered 2D remake, rather than a fully 3D game though... Akin to StarCraft Remastered.

I looks quite terrible to be honest. DK doesn't seem to have the same weight to him, the game seems too floaty. Aside from that, like others have said, visually it lacks the charm of the original game.
