Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bethesda: Doom is “custom-built” for Switch

in my opinion Bethesda is doing a great job supporting the switch and this game impresses a lot for the hardware limitation of the switch.

USgamer reached out to Bethesda in hopes of finding out more about Doom’s visuals and performance on Switch. The site was told, “DOOM on Switch is custom-built for the hardware and while graphics won’t be 1:1 with other platforms, the game will deliver the amazing DOOM look and feel that fans are excited to get on Switch.”

Looks pretty good. I think i'm going to buy this game instead of Skyrim .

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Pretty good Bethesda! Can't wait to play!

Custom built in not the same engine?Well thats a shame, though given the few screenshots we have seen, I cant really complain.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

??? It's the same engine I'm pretty sure, custom built does not mean custom built engine.

OP : Those screenshots are kind of misleading, if you look at the points in which the character is trying to shoot enemies it looks way worse than in those screenshots. Still impressive

Switch can't run current AAA game's they said, it isn't powerful enough they said.

It'll be obviously downgraded but that isn't the point, it looks good though, very impressively close for a portable system. But I'll also wait on digital foundry for the visual comparison with direct native feed capture of the full game, but the fact a handheld in 2017 can run this game as well as Wolfenstein II is insane.

Can we all just take the time to appreciate something :

We've known about Skyrim since January. They've talked about Skyrim at almost every turn. It's coming on November 17th. Yet Doom, a game that no one expected and was announced on September 13th, is coming HOLIDAY of this year, around the same time as Skyrim. That's ... that's ... AMAZING!!!

Its because usually whena  developer says its custom built for something, means that they are using a different engine that they have used for the other versions. But yeah, nice to have the ID Tech 6 working on the Switch.

Now, I really hope they releasesoon a gameplay video of Doom on Switch that is a direct feed.

Yeah I know, but I doubt it's a different engine, that's usually for games that were already multi-generational or had entries on older consoles. I'd bet it's the same engine just scaled way down. Which is fine : )

That is some result from the comparisons.
