Forums - Nintendo Discussion - L.A. Noire will cost more on Switch than Ps4 and Xbox One

Maybe the cost of producing cartridges?

L.A. Noire will cost €49.99 / £44.99 on Switch and €39.99 / £34.99 on PS4 and X1, Nintendo has never commented on the situation officially, but like i said the cost of producing cartridges is likely a factor.

Maybe, but I just find it hard to believe that 16gb cartridges could possibly cost a full ten euros more to manufacture that Bluray disks.

I hope it is exactly the same game on Vive. I'll be interested to see how reviews differ between traditional consoles and virtual reality for an otherwise identical game.

They already made their money back from Sony and Microsoft, I guess?

What I don't get is that it will be 4K on PS4 and Xbox, but not the Switch.

That's kinda shitty. If this is what the norm on the Switch is gonna be... third party support is screwed.

I believe (don't quote me on this) that it was the same situation for the PS1 and N64, with the N64 games being more expensive.

The screen is only 720p right? and Im not even sure the switch can output anything at 4k.

It might not be powerfull enough to do a old PS3 game in 4k either, while the Xbox One & PS4 are.

And one of tge reasons why third parties have a hard time finding sucess is this.Hopefully the price is rectified by launch.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Nintendo could take the price of the cartridge out of their cut, so 3rd party dont have to.

Or atleast a part of it, so its more or less the same 3rd party pay for cartridges, as a dvd for sony/ms.

An N64 Game Pak was a different, much more expensive technology, designed to be fast enough to alleviate the N64's RAM limitations.  The Switch Game Card is essentially just a flash chip.

As discussed there, MROM (Mask ROM) chips are not expensive.  At all.

Goodness knows why devs are upping their prices to this level.  With indies, it's probably because every dollar counts.  Big time devs, it's simply because they can get away with it since people assume the Game Card is analogous to the N64 Game Pak or the SNES Cartridge.
