Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Top 5 Favourite Zelda Games - Round 2

Well, I own 7 of the main Zelda games, but unfortunately I haven't beaten any of them!! So I wasn't able to participate in this thread. I will have to rectify that soon (especially since I have made it to the Water Temple in OoT).

Fuck what everyone else says. The fact that Water Temple is so garbage is what makes it good! It takes so long to get out of there that you get this feeling of Stockholm syndrome. My favorite dungeon!

Around the Network

1. Skyward Sword
2. Twilight Princess
3. Breath of the Wild
4. Majora's Mask
5. A Link Between Worlds

I think it's funny how my two least favorite 3D Zeldas are at the top, my list would be upside-down from that one (Plus some changes ofc). I definitely think that BotW will go down once the next 3D Zelda releases though, there's a lot of room for improvement with this formula, and I recall Aonuma himself saying that the next one will top it.

I'm shocked A Link to the Past ranked as low as it did.

I find the 2d games to have aged more. The original is clunky (but still fun), 2 is terrible. ALTTP is good, but I don't find the combat or the dungeons to be very engaging. I prefer the newer top-town games as well, I prefer Minish Cap, the DS games, and ALBW to ALTTP. TP, SS, and BOTW are 3 of my all-time favorite games.

Wind Waker 2nd and Link's Awakening this low is criminal.

We'll also see how long BotW's honeymoon period lasts...

same. botw is my least fav as it changes the zelda forumla to much for my liking. I like other games that do it better like witcher 3 for example. I hope we get a normal zelda next time around.

We won't (I'm really sad about it, but what can you do :/). Most we can hope for is a traditional 2D Zelda alongside the 3D open-world ones, and also actual dungeons for the next 3D Zelda.

i would be satisfied with a nice 2d zelda like link between worlds part 2. :) I would buy a switch for it.  As of now I have no plans to buy a switch this gen.

I usually buy the nintendo system just for zelda and other games are just bonus like mario/dk etc.  But this gen i'll pass.

I wouldn't mind another 2D one, but I've always preferred the 3D ones. I do think we'll get a 2D Zelda soon, but I don't want it to be ALBW part 2, at least not in the "do it in any order" sense. ALBW was a good game, but the dungeons/puzzles were too easy because of the rental mechanic, and the story also took a hit. Ideally I'd want the 2D Zelda games to keep the old formula, while the 3D ones kept improving the new one.
