Suddenly theres physics, grappleing hooks, day&night cycles, sneaking around (stealth) from (sight,smell,ect) and various other new gameplay elements.
I think the 3DS hardware held back what they where able to do with the game.
It must be "freeing" to suddenly go "all those idea's we had in the past, we might be able to do now", simply because of the hardware.
I think the PS4 has like 400-500 times the power of the 3DS.
Must be really odd to develop for the 3DS and then do a game for a PS4.
