Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Switch is beating Wii U, but behind the original Wii.

I think Wii and Switch have the same condition, but they have reached it in different ways: Wii is a home console, it had next-gen games, strong competitors, Switch is a portable console, it hasn't nextgen games, but at launch there weren't competitors.
The difference is that simply wii is stronger than switch, and we'll see that in the coming months

Sorry but taking the Wiiu sales numbers as a target is would not be very smart for any of the big 3.

It depends how many Nintendo will produce. It could have easily beaten the Wii without supply issues.

so in germany there are no supply issues , here you can buy it everywhere and everytime.

I've heard people like you say it's "everywhere" and people also say it's "no where." What's the real story? And also, does it actually matter? As far as I know, the Switch still sells acceptably in Europe as a whole. We count Europe as the region, not just Germany (or the UK, or Sweden, or France...)

OP here is some 1st year data for all consoles, except switch, that may be helpful for comparisons.

It'll be interesting to see if Switch can hit 10M by end of 2017 which would be its first 10 months considering it took Wii 9 months, PS4 10 months, and XboxOne 14 months. All others took a lot longer.

Nintendo is combining two categories into one; handheld and home console. It's very short sighted to comment on the sales of the Switch without accepting the fact that Nintendo has decided (per recent reports) that they'll put all their attention towards the Switch once supply keeps up with demand on the manufacturing end of things. That means people who typically bought a home console and a handheld are in the same boat as those who bought handhelds exclusively. The potential sales for the Switch, especially once she reaches a sub 250 price, is above 200 million units.

That's not a fair comparison. Germany is like Europe's UK. They all hate Nintendo.

Isn't the UK already Europe's UK?

Not according to the UK.

So in other words the Switch is running faster than a snail but slower than a rabbit.

The Wii was a once a generation thing. I doubt Switch will do better. When it is all said and done the Switch will outsell the Wii but not in the first four years. I say this due to more 1st party support and longer lifespan.

The Switch will sell over 100M?

I mean it has to if it wants to beat the Wii. That's how sales work nowadays.

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

Quoting this to tag. 10M in 10 months - that would be interesting to see whether Switch will achieve that.

Ok. Not sure why you think that the Switch will outsell the Wii when the 3DS and WiiU couldn't.
