Forums - Sony Discussion - Lost legacy looks amazing

Nah, Naughty Dog is good at committing to what they feel is the end of a story. Look at Crash and Jak. They made the games they wanted to and haven't gone back. Sure, the IP rights were sold and other more mediocre titles got made (Jak was given mercy with only one subpar non-Naughty Dog title), but in the case of Crash, Sony seems to be on the edge of reclaiming the IP and Jak seems to firmly remain in Sony's hands at this juncture with no further abuse of the IP. After all that, I don't see Uncharted being sold off to create lesser games that will only sully the legacy of the series.

How can you even say this? Naughty Dog used to be a studio consistently making new stuff but what they have now is more or less a progression of what theyve done since 2007. Originlly there was supposed to be no Last of Us 2, then they said the chances were 50/50 because they were thinking of making a new IP, then they just made TLOU2. Uncharted 4 I was like "ehhhhh id really like to see something new, but I can understand trying to get the PS4 library off the ground with a sequel". It ended up being a great game. But now we need another one? I really hope we domt get a Last of Us 3.

I understand how my previous comment seems like flamebait, but it isnt. It isnt constructive  criticism either. It's an opinion. I just feel the well is running dry. But alas, I know it will just come off as "edgy contrarianism" . I actually am excited for TLOU2 and to a small extent Lost Legacy. I just think its such a narrow view of what Naughty Dog can do.

Yes it is totally your opinion. Both Sony and ND have been very direct multiple times saying that ND develops what they want, so if they made the games was because they wanted to tell the story. That was why they decided to put TLOU at the end of the gen and take a lot of risk. If they also decided UC deserved or needed a last shoot good for them. I like the game.

There will be a Last of Us 3. It's a planned trilogy following different themes in each game.

Also, Naughty Dog has never been a big IP hopper. They literally only have Crash, Jak, Uncharted, and TLoU to their name. I don't quite get where you think they are some IP juggernaut, constantly churning out new IPs rather than making sequels.

Of course it's my opinion? Liking or disliking a game is always an opinion.

I'm not saying Sony is forcing Naughty Dog's hand. I'm saying I don't really care for the direction.

Look dude, just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean you have to make fallacy arguments. I never said they were a big IP hopper or that they're constantly making new stuff. But they were known fairly well for making a new IP each gen. Also...4 ips is a lot for an exclusive developer...like most exclusive devs have one, maybe two franchises.

The E3 trailer looked awesome to be honest

Yeah, it really did. I wasn't entirely sold on this game until I saw that E3 footage.

I want them to remake golden abyss with this new engine.
I know it's not their UC game but I think it's a fairly good title that could benefit with the full UC engine rather than a modified one that it used.

I think we will see a remake at some point, probably by bluepoint as they seem to be Sonys go to for remakes and remasters.

Errr I wasn't talking about you liking or not the game, but you insinuating they aren't making a new IP because of hidden intents or other excuses.

Don't worry it's quite possible that there will be a new IP by them. And considering TLOU launched at the end of 7th it's almost as if it would be a new 8th gen IP.
