Forums - Gaming Discussion - Uncharted 4 & Horizon ZD look so mind blowingly great they have spoiled games for me.

Horizon and uncharted feel like 9th gen games...

Yes, absolutely. 280 39.60%

Kinda but not that much. 123 17.40%

Nah, 8th gen. 212 29.99%

I haven't played either of them... 92 13.01%

Total:707

You don't have to worry about not having something similar, we already have games that rival or surpass those two: Battlefront, The Order, DriveClub, Ratchet & Clank, Ryse, inFamous, etc. Pretty soon we'll also have God of War, The Last of Us II, Battlefront 2, AC Origins, etc.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Have both of them. They're still in "the pile".

You must be young because almost everyone knows gameplay > graphics.  I'll go play some NES Ice Hockey and have the time of my life.

But what if the gameplay of Horizon ZD is better too? I havnt played NES ice hockey but tbh it looks boreing as hell, just loaded up a youtube video of it.

Yea it probably looks terrible just watching it but playing it against a friend is a blast.  I could have used better a NES games as an example but just chose one off the top of my head.

Everything is subjective when it comes to what people think is a great game.  Do I like good graphics?  Sure but I always want to know that the games plays decently instead of looking awesome and playing like shit.  I'm glad if those games have good gameplay but for awhile it seems like the industry and people try to emphasize graphics over gamplay.  Example: Companies showing cut scenes in video games ads instead of actual gameplay.

UC4 and HZD sure are gorgeous, but they feel more like fully realized 8th gen to me. They'll hold up well but I know 9th gen will be able to exceed them in short order. There are also multiple games in a similar league. What idTech and Frostbite are capable of at 60fps is pretty amazing, not to mention good ol' CryEngine. God of War looks similarly impressive and I'm eager to see how representative Death Stranding and TLOU2's teasers will be of their finished games.

9th gen's gonna look incredible, that's for sure. Next gen lighting will be epic and another big helping of physics will sure help too.

Both look incredibly good. But they both lack of physics or interactivity with their environement which is a big trade to me.

Uncharted 4 lacks physics? That's a new one...

I feel you. PC has ruined every console game for me.

Prepare to be thoroughly beaten down, tarred and feathered.

You forget that all games PC has are MMO's and Mobas and crappy indie titles.

Yea, better do a preventive pc defence before they start atacking. So far nobody has said anyting bad about pc, but Im sure its coming, so keep the defence up.

People who say that or that either it or horizon have slugish gameplay have ovbiously not played the game.

27, And you can't have games without graphics. It's just some of us enjoy the feeling of being wow'd. These two games are high art and as someone who has a passion for all art forms, the feels I have gotten from these two games trumps much of any other medium for me, only music comes next. Also, the gameplay is great in both titles and this is all so subjective there is no point in arguing mate, I like to appreciate the work and artistry that went into these titles and I feel let down when other titles fail miserably in comparison upon trying. Of course I don't care what Nex Machina or arcade games will look like, I know I'll enjoy it anyway but they aren't going for emotional and artistically directed story driven experiences.

Nier automata pls

While the graphics on UC4 are simply stunning, unfortunately for the gameplay Is very outdated for me, run here take cover kill guard 987, run forward take cover kill guard 988 etc. Think I got just part the art gallery level and then gave up. Not tried Horizon dawn yet, but after watching a BOTW comparison not rushing for it I'll wait for it to go on sale. From the vids I've seen though graphically it looks fantastic.

I don't understand these complaints tbh...the gameplay in U4 is very dynamic and fluid. The grappling hook is one of the reasons why. The later open levels with the jeep...it's unseen in other games. Not sure how that is outdated tbh?

I've been grappling around places since 1998 and more recently all over Arkham and London, not played no jeep levels but did enough to know it felt very familiar. The graphics and especially cutscenes were easily the best I've seen since TLOU though.....

A 9th gen handheld maybe, spec wise it's like gen 7.5 as a console.

Beware of Nintendo fans, they will put you on the pitch for this.

No we won't,  it's true, Switch is leaps and bounds behind ps4 pro, however it's still powerfully enough to release some really good looking games like SMO. I watched a comparison between BOTW and Horizon, and wow did Horizon look nice. BotW annihilated it on physics though so swings and roundabouts
