Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart 9.. wishes

Hard for me to say, all my main nitpicks were fixed with the Deluxe version so I guess as long as they don't mess things up, MK9 would be great :p

Add a DMX soundtrack and I'm all in for MK9.

1. Story mode a'la Diddy Kong Racing

2. more characters to unlock

3. something fresh

- No "Deluxe" version of MK9. As there shouldn't have been a MK8 Deluxe, but instead a new MK9. Since "we are all loving" a game that came out 3 years ago.

- No baby or metal version of pre-existing characters - or at least not as many (Baby Rosalina feels terribly unnecesary) I'd rather have new different characters.

Aaaaand thats it really, I loved MK8 so If MK9 comes close to its quality im all good.

We still need a baby Yoshi one :)

Ok, fine, good point. Baby Yoshi is a must-have.

  1. A story mode
  2. Coins to buy improvements in a store inside the game (oportunity to introduce a new character)
  3. Ink to be dissolute entering at water
  4. Something that justify underwater breathing
  5. Destructible circuits
  6. New items and the return of old ones
  7. No metal or cat skins versions as as main character
  8. New characters
  9. Introduce new vehicles (something on the way Sonic & Sega all star racing transformed and Diddy kong racing did)
  10. Final bosses
  11. An editor to create circuits ( a next step on Mario maker way)
  12. Voice chat
....

I love that they finally brought back Dry Bones but I noticed Birdo has never graced Mario Kart series has he/she?

MK8 Deluxe is basically just what MK8 should have been, out of the package. Not the squid kids and shit, but the ACTUAL battle arenas, etc.

It boggles the mind that there are people who legit say that they DON'T think Nintendo should release an MK9, that they should instead just release more DLC for MK8.

MK9, me personally, I'd love to see them take advantage of the extra horsepower, I'd love to see them actually improve on what MK8 built, but have an ACTUAL battle mode out of the box, bring back Block Fort, etc. Throw in some new characters. There are still plenty of Mario characters that could make great racers, such as Goomba, Magikoopa, Wart, Mouser, Professor E. Gadd, Dixie Kong, etc.

It's neat having characters like Link, having a Hyrule track, etc. But I'm not so sure I want to see it just become "Nintendo Kart", personally. What I'd rather see, in that vein, in ADDITION to an honest to god MK9, is to see like a "Nintendo and Sega All-Stars Racing" or whatever. Don't make an MK clone, make it maybe something more along the lines of Diddy Kong Racing. Have representations from all of the biggest (and even a few smaller) Nintendo and Sega franchises, as racers and as tracks. That would sell a ton. Release it in a different year than MK9 of course. But still...when they started doing the Mario and Sonic olympic crap, I honestly thought it was a no-brainer, what with the Sonic racing games already existing, that some kind of GOOD crossover like that was a no-brainer. But they've yet to do it.

Birdo was on Double Dash if I'm not mistaken.

Yea I remember that now.  Forget the special move but I believe it was the Yoshi homing egg.  The unique special items were kind of cool idea.  Such as no one could get the golden mushrooms except Toad and Toadette.

I think they will make a Mario Kart Double Dash 2, it makes soooo much sense for Nintendo Switch (local coop in the same kart always accessible) and it would be different enough than MK8 so people will want to buy both.
