Turns out if you make a good game, people will buy it.

I wish that were the case. RE5 still miles ahead, and it seems RE7 will never reach it.

Fair enough.

I think thats why they are making RE 2 remake actually. They are trying different styles, beginning with RE 7, to see what works best.

I think ideally, they should go on with RE 7 style for at least 2 more main entries and change again, just like they have been doing with RE so far(as to not become stale), and at the same time, make the spin off revelations games the "action packed" RE for the more action oriented fans.Make it all part of the same universe and make events in each "franchise" have effect on the other, but each keeps its own storylines, much like with the relation betwenn the marvel movies and the marvel tv shows.

I want to look forward to REmake 2, but I have a feeling that they will end up changing more of it than simply sticking to what 2 was exactly like. Also if it's a game of seeing which sells better then that definitely doesn't bode well for REmake 2 and that path in general.

There isn't all that much to change tbh. If they carry on with the way 7 is designed, then there will only be minor chanegs made, then we'll absically have ourselves Resi 7 being the main template and Resi 1-3 being long forgotten, so the hopes of a "change" happening after the enxt 2 games won't have them going back, it will have them going forward with 7 and not the early titles.

Ideally I'd love if 7 was a new IP and they return to Resi 1-3 and start over. That way fans of what 7 was like can play it as a new IP and invest in that franchise, while I can carry on investing in the Resi one, but as the way things currently are, I don't see myself investing at all until they go back to what the first few games were like.

What would you consider a return to RE 1-3?Fixed camera angles?Third person view?Because one of the reasons that I loved RE 7 so much it because it felt like the earlier games.I mean, it needs improving, as a higher focus on puzzles(specially item based puzzles), and a bit more backtracking in the sense that RE 1 had you retracing your steps every so often to unlock a room that was previously unlocked(RE 7 was kind of light in this), but otherwise RE 7 feels much like the classic RE.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

How high were they expecting Resi 7. It sold better than PT would have. It will sell better long term. Capcom re-releases their games many times.

They wanted to ship 4 millions by the end of the fiscal year.I would say that 3.5 is close enough for that goal to be considered a success.

Dan RE7 selling pretty bad. This might indicate we go back to RE5/RE6 style.

I will be honest that I still prefer the 3rd person RE game and I wish that they will get back on that gameplay.
I wish that REmake 2 will be 3rd person but with the scare factor and it will sell great.

I also wish for a RE Vendetta game and RE revelations 3.

As for MH XX Looking at the media create sales its possible that there will be no 3rd shipments for MH XX or if there is one it will be small.

Dead Rising I think it was wrong that it doesn't have a PS4 version.
.

You know how you can have a far larger income Capcom ? MH5 on Switch, make it happen, THIS year while there aren't many games on the system yet.

Edit: On a side note,  If I'm not mistaken MH Stories will be published by Nintendo in the west, why is that? Capcom is in desperate need of money and they turn down an easy way to make some, that game will be a milion seller in the west alone...

The style that made Resi 1-3 does include the camera angles and the general third person view, but it also contains visuals that didn't follow through the series (because we get people quitting here and there for nearly any studio out there, in doing so you lose some of that talent that made said game).

I know that some explain what they want out there from Resi, but to me R7 doesn't feel like R 1-3, but it feels more like a modern merge of Outlast meets Resi and well, we have Outlast and Resi for those respective experiences.

Look at Code V, it had plenty of backtracking, creepy and eerie music, insane characters and a focus on the undead and a Virus. With 7 you didn't really catch on about the Virus until later on.

To some RE 7 is going to feel like an absolute exact return to roots, but for others (myself included) it doesn't feel the same. It just feels different, like it could have been a new IP and I'd easily accept it as a new IP.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see
