Forums - Movies & TV - Can you guys recommend some Asian action movies?

I love action movies. Especially if it has lots of guns or lots of fists! I am a big fan of 80s action movies, as well as Asian ones. However, I am unfortunately not too familiar with them. Some of my favourites include:

The Raid: Redemption

Battle Royale

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (I love how cheesy it is!)

I'm also aware of John Woo, but I haven't seen any of his films. Of course, there's also Jackie Chan and all of his movies. However, I was wondering if you had any good recommendations for me.

If you want a John Woo movie, watch Hard boiled.

As for a movie I really love and gets me very tense everytime: The Yellow Sea. It's fantastic, go give it a watch.

Yeah, I have the video game Stranglehold, is that considered to be a sequel to Hard Boiled?

Ahh, the second one sounds like an interesting movie. I also saw Bedevilled, which is an another Korean thriller about a woman who is driven insane and starts murdering people.

Actually, yeah. You play as the same main character, and while it's not a direct sequel, the game's world is based directly on Hard Boiled's. xD

Too man to name any of Jackie Chan's or Jet Li's early movies are all good but you want something interesting go Volcano High I doubt many people remember that gem ;)

The Legend of Drunken Master/Drunken Master II has some of the most brilliant fight choreography committed to film. I highly recommend that one.

The movies of Zhang Yimou are excellent also.

Kung Fu Hustle is one of my favs.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Ahh, Stephen Chow. I've seen Shaolin Soccer, but not that one!

I don't know if you care about sword fights, but rurouni kenshin live-action movies have some great action scenes.

There are plenty of good action films featuring great Asian actors like: Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan
