Forums - Website Topics - Hello Everyone! (A more in-depth introduction/2017 version)

Hello all! I made an introduction thread here during the beginning of my time here, but maybe it's time for something a bit more in depth?

Anyways, I am an 18 year old male who was originally born in Michigan, and lived in the Detroit area for the first four years of my life along with my twin brother. However, after the divorce of our parents, we moved to Canada, and have lived in London, Ontario ever since (in case you're wondering where that is, it's almost right in the middle of Detroit Michigan, Toronto Ontario and Buffalo New York).

My biggest passion in life has probably been video games. The first console that I ever owned was the Sega Genesis, originally acquired from my dad. However, it was the PS1, which I got in December 2002, which really fuelled my passion for gaming. I never looked back since! I mainly got whatever games my parents/grandparents got me, but by 2009 I started to become interested in game collecting, particularly retro games, which I was able to do with the help of my uncle in Michigan, who frequently goes to thrift stoers, flea markets and yard sales.

Anyways, it's not just gaming that I'm into. I'm also interested in the various cultures of the world, from Latin America, to Europe, to the Middle East, to East Asia and everything in between! However, probably due to the influence of video games, Japan has always been the country that's interested me the most, and I have always desired to visit it at least once in my life.

Along with that comes my interest in languages. In Ontario the French language is mandatory for 6 years of school. I took a liking to it, and eventually decided to branch out to other languages as well. My first serious 3rd language attempt was with Portuguese, but I quickly dropped that with German. I also ended up taking Greek, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese courses throughout my years of education. However, I've cut out Greek and German, and mainly stuck with the other languages, with Spanish being put on the backburner.

Other things that interest me include music, particulary heavy metal and video game music. Throughout the year, I mainly switch between extreme metal, hard rock/alternative metal and video game music, depending on where I'm at in the school year. I also used to be a huge fan of professional wrestling, and would beg my parents to let me stay up and watch Smackdown every week. It has subsided, but I still keep up a little, and I do love the old Smackdown games. I also like watching sports to some extent, though above all my favourite is the National Hockey League.

Of course, there's also the other main interest that I have, and one that's probably become more apparent in the months leading up to and since the Presidential Elections: politics. I've had a left-leaning bias every since I joined the site (looking through my threads, I called myself left-wing basically at the start of my time here, and by 2014 I was already calling myself a communist), but with the recent flaring up of intentions, I've become more active in posting here.

In general, I'm a very shy person. I don't really have any friends at all, and I usually spend my days on the computer, studying or doing schoolwork. I am much more introverted than the average person, and if I didn't live with my family, I'd probably be suffering from severe isolation.

So, there you have it. I don't believe that I've left anything too important. That was just a brief re-introduction of myself to the community here. Have a nice day/night everyone!

Welp, I feel betrayed now. You aren't a real Canadian? :O

If not being born in Canada and having dual citizenship counts as not being a real Canadian, then I guess not!

Actually, I think I remember you saying that before in one of my previous threads (I think it was the countries visited thread). I guess you travelled a lot further than me! Detroit is literally right next to Canada.

I suppose so, although the real distance is warped by how fast jets are
