Forums - Gaming Discussion - All Xbox Games will run better on Scorpio & Phil is flying to japan

Maybe while he's there he'll sign some more second party games to announce at E3 and then quietly cancel in a few years.

I don't care about the Xbox. They can't even push Scalebound into retail stores. I will probably get a used X1 in the future so i can play Lost Odyssey & Tales of Vesperia. That's it, i won't buy their new console & games. They won't get any money from me.

More Japanese devs should put their games on XBox 1: nearly 30 million users there and considering the X1 and PS4 not being too different from one another, it surely can't be too difficult.

You mean in japan?

It's always nice to have more games on your console, but i dont think japanese dev will care abt xbox if the console is selling really really bad in japan

Those are the two I play as well but Vesperia is not even back compat yet. Better off sticking to a used X360. I picked up a used (newer model) one back in September for $65. I had an original 360 that Rrod on me but I kept the few JRPG's that it had just in case.

judging by the framerate improvements in Lost Odyssey which benefit the game well and also in blue dragon plus the continued support I would much rather have a newer xbox over the old xbox. Not to mention cloud saving that works cross consoles and the faster load times/easier storage on the system AND the fact you get a better controller.

All great X360 japanese games from a time Microsoft was still trying, who knows this trip to Japan will work some magic again for the green team. Its clear some people are asking them for it

LOL, "going to Japan" like he's never been there before. I expect they'll throw some money around so some newer Japanese titles will be coming out for when Scorpio launches, making it look like there is renewed interest.

Final Fantasy XV:

84% of sales on PS4 (4.30 million)

16% of sales on Xbox One (0.82 million)

I really don't see what does he plan to achieve in Japan?

Paying development costs is the only thing I can think of...

Japanese developers already know it's relatively simple to port their games to Xbox and yet they choose not to.

Might change slightly in favour for xbox next year, I meen I know a lot of people who own both consoles and will obviously pick the ps4 version because its graphically better. With the Xbox Scorpio someone like, well me!, would have picked up the ps4 version last year (i did) but if I had to make the same choice after my scorpio arrives I would prefer the Xbox version over the PS4 version because the scorpio should deliver a better experience.

Also keep in mind this is Phil Spencers "first Xbox Console" the disaster he inherrited from his predicessor has been a constant cloud of judgement, rightfully so, xbox in 2013 was a laughing stock for anyone who loves gaming.

Surely trying to change this with a better team in the lead trying to change the opinion ps4 is superiot to xbox in every way is going to take risks and investments. If they choose to once again work with and develop with japanese publishers only good things can happen. During the PS3 and Xbox360 era when I owned both consoles they did deliver some amazing games.

Probably offer some free advertising and promotion deals, which might be quite attractive to smaller publishers, as that represents up-front expenditures. Perhaps some deferred payments on other costs, or fees dependent on success. I don't know if they'd go so far as to fund or partially fund porting costs but it's always possible. Normally I'd say that a million dollars here and there would be chump change for Microsoft but they've been tightening the purse strings on Xbox lately.

We'll know how negotiations went if they suddenly start running some feature ads and giving prime advertising space to mid-level Japanese games.

On the other side of the coin, that Spencer is handling this himself probably helps. The Japanese care a lot about appearance and signs of respect. However, they're also notorious for business politicking so there is no way to know what will happen.

I think you're giving the wrong example. 820k is a looot for a port. Many of the pc ports barely sell 500k but it didnt stop capcom, squenix and bamco from porting to pc
