Forums - Politics Discussion - Trump Is A Corporate Elitist Sell Out

Soundwave said:

I'm giving concrete examples of him bending over to corporate/billionaire interests and putting policies in place that favor billionaires over the working class. Like for example please do tell how allowing financial investment managers to invest people's money without the person's best interest at stake is a good thing? He is a corporate sell out. I'm sorry if you don't like it.

Don't be sorry for me, you and the others are the one that has to keep spinning the narrative to imply that he wouldn't do any of these things when he made that clear ...

Like I said, cognitive dissonance on your part ...

Cognitive dissonance how so? I said this guy was a corporate sell out conman from the start. These are just concrete examples from two weeks that already show his true colors. "Champion for the middle class" my ass.

Trump hasn't changed most of his principles and he set out to do those things so it's stupid to label him as a "sell out" when he's been awfully consistent with his campaign promises ...

Trump isn't the one doing the false advertising here, it's you that's doing the false advertising since your the one that's personally compelled to reconcile your narrative with the reality because of your rage ...

Trump isn't a sell out. To sell out, he would have had to have something to sell. He has always been a corporate elitist. He has always been self-serving and corrupt. None of this is new or surprising coming from him.

Sad to see. I had a tiny bit of faith he'd pull through, but damn. The republicans are going to be destroyed in 4 years by the way things are going.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Probably not. Republicans rule everything and you know what Republicans love to do most. Implementing laws that keep liberals from voting. Looking forward to the 2020 election when you're only allowed to vote if you're a registered Republican for more than 4 years.

I don't have "rage" against Trump, but I can call a conman a conman and this is a reality TV conman. Actually I think a lot of his "travel ban" nonsense and bravado is just to distract from a lot of these issues, where he is sadly just a basic Republican corporate sell out, not much different from the average politican at all.

Allowing Wall Street investors to be "freed" of a fiscal duty to not invest their clients into risky/irresponsible investments or letting internet companies charge what they want for internet/TV or a big pharma to get away with inflated drug/medicine prices, letting coal companies dump their waste into water streams ... all par for the course, George W. Bush/Dick Cheney's wet dream of corporatocracy and greed run wild.

Quietly lost in his barrage of stupid Twitter drama is the fact that Trump is bending over for every corporate interest and billionaires repeatedly now that's he president. Aside from having his cabinet littered with Goldman Sachs bankers, which is pretty well known at this point and secretary of state who's only real job experience is working as CEO at Exxon Mobil:

1.) Confirming (barely) Betty DeVos a grossly unqualified billionaire heiress as education secretary. She wants to defund public schools and push the interests of lobbyists of big money private schools (because it's not enough that people are crippled with debt from college, we need to suck them dry from elementary and junior/high school now too).

2.) Trumps Turns into a Teddy Bear when meeting with Big Pharmaceutical companies after promising to leverage them into lower drug/medicine costs for the average joe, he meets with their lobbists and backs off this demand:

3.) Trump backs big banks like JP Morgan in scaling back/doing away with regulations that were put in place to protect against another irresponsible economic collapse like the one that happened in 2008:

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/politics/Trump-Congress-Dodd-Frank-Financial-Regulations-412666963.html

4.) Trump is pushing for the scaling back of rules that were put in place to prevent Wall Street fat cat investors from ripping off their clients by allowing them to invest people's money in high risk investments and dropping the fidicuary duty they had before to operate in their clients best interests.

5.) Gutting the FCC So Huge Companies like AT&T and Verizon Can charge more for Internet and TV Service:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/janetwburns/2017/02/07/trumps-fcc-is-quietly-gutting-efforts-to-keep-the-internet-affordable/#136c30921552

On top of promised massive tax cuts for ultra-rich, the biggest in decades. But keep telling yourself this billionaire who's never worked a day of manaul labor in his life and was born with a silver spoon in his mouth was going to seriously go to bat for the "middle class". Not if it's not a PR photo op.

Betsy DeVos....hmmm

As a stoic and chronic-disagreer with almost literally everything you say.

On that, I'm at a loss for words.

There are some issues that Trump admin can be pulled up on that can't be rebutted and that's one of them. Along with the some aspects of the business interests bit.

Problem is, it all gets lost in the ether because people like yourself fight every battle.

All your comments after the Betsy DeVos bit are just the usual idigologically based piffle that nobody except liberals give a stuff about. I keep saying this but libs never catch on - address your audience in terms they relate to -

Right leaning people do not align with all this talk in relative terms and non empyrical word gymnastics.

Unless you are preaching to the choir, but what's the point in that?

Look I understand your final damning summary reading like a metaphorical jumble sale of fancy words of condemnation with no numbers. No problem. But when the substance of your argument is basically that as well, it just doesn't hit home. It's not the nuclear delivery you think it is, it switches off those that aren't on the same page.

...I'm just repeating myself now, see this post. It's an example in how NOT to deliver a message where there are facts and truth bombs.

All you needed to say was....

Betsy DeVos - Billionairre - Zero experience in appointed position - Couldn't answer hearing questions effectively -

I don't really give a crap quite frankly that his supporters would need to have the messaging "dumbed down" so they can understand it.

The reality will hit home sooner or later that they've been conned.

You're so innocent.

If anything goes wrong then the last person who's at fault is the government they voted for. Trump and his supporters will make sure that that honor belongs to illegal immigrants, terrorists, liberals and the dishonest media. Not a single Trump supporter will learn anything from this. Admitting mistakes is not a feature of this presidency.
