Lol.... oh yes I can remember. Even then most of us were baffled how all of a sudden 4K BR movie playback had apparently become the defining feature of a game console. As if all of a sudden everyone fogot the 7th gen and all the good BR movie playback did for the PS3. 

At the end of the day its all about the games. I think sony learnt that lesson in blood with the PS3. A lesson MS doesn't seem to have learnt yet (or they did and forgot sometime along when the kinect was released on the 360) and its fans seem to ignore. 

But now its the scorpio, some seem to think that for some reason people will go out in droves and buy it cause its the most powerful console ever built. I think a lot of people are going to be in for a big surprise.

I always said Sony were genius for not including 4k blu ray.  price is key. Not some niche feature that barely anybody even cares about.  

 

4k blu ray will have its day...... On the ps5!

Not reliable enough. I was wrong about 3DS anyway, remembered the numbers wrong.

So Wii U has sold 13.56M, VGC has it at 13.8M. Overtracked by ~140k. 3DS sold 65.3M, VGC has it at 63.5M. Undertracked by 1.8M.

PS4 is at 57.1M, VGC has it at 54.1M. Undertracked by a dead even 3 million (it sold 9.7 freaking million during the holidays). Source (too lazy to look for Sony's PR): https://mobile.twitter.com/ZhugeEX/status/827034759893250049

And I swear we got an update recently on Xbox One's estimates by an outside source (like Venturbeat or Forbes) not too long ago. Can't find it.



Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I doubt they got like 3 million PS4's just lying on the shelfs worldwide,especially when entering January. So my bet is that there are more than 54.1 million sold through,as VGC predict.

Don't know why this was moderated, probably because of that last sentence, but surely there's truth in this post.

The Vita numbers have been unlikely for quite a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if it would turn out it was like a million overtracked in total by now, because you can't actually buy the things anywhere. Even used they're almost impossible to find. The system has no shelf space, not even for games. But anyway, it's not like there's proof until Sony actually releases numbers which they probably won't ever do.

Seems like the PS4, XBox One and 3DS had decent holidays though, and are fairly accurately tracked, so that's good.
