Forums - Gaming Discussion - Scorpio: 'Most powerful never wins' law remains intact?

Has the law been broken?

Yes. PS4 beat XB1. 81 53.64%

No. PS4 beat Scorpio. 70 46.36%

Total:151

Assuming Scorpio doesn't overtake PS4(+Pro) does that mean the law still stands or does PS4 beating XB1 break it?

Thank you. That whole "Most powerful finally won" thing didn't sit well with me. Now it's back to the status quo!

PSone beat n64 tho.

Does all this still matter with so much evolution going on in the same gen? Seems pointless to me but that's just my opinion.
At E3 this year Sony will announce the PS4 Extreme that outspecs the Scorpio and the same old crap starts over again.

There is no magic formula for this, there are instances where both sides of the coin have happened. It comes down to a combination of : Price, Power, Luck, Software Support, Originality and Desirability. At least in my opinion it does. Scorpio is in a strange place I think, it's going to be the most powerful but are developers really ready to take full advantage of what it has to offer? Developers still really don't know how to get the most out of PS4 Pro, mostly because the install base of PS4Pro is probably very minor compared to PS4. If Scorpio wants to beat anything, it has to make sure it beats Xbox One first in terms of Software Support or an artificial genocide of all Xbox Ones.

Ps4 won. I feel like whatever home console sony releases it will win. Ps3 had a disaster first few years but somehow end up with 90 mil

PS1 was 32-Bit.

I can't remember what the Nintendo 64 was.

I think the reason why 'power doesn't win' has become the standard is because power is related to price/new tech. New, expensive tech can backfire  when it's expensive and time consuming to develop for (less games).

Yeah. There were always variables. PS4 was the first to have the more powerful tech at a lower price. The outcome was unavoidable but it ruined a tradition that we in place for as long as I can remember!

The cost of adding Kinect instead of adding more power. That might have changed the outcome though so who knows.
