I think if it was up to Nintendo then Sun/Moon would have been Switch launch titles.

So assuming GameFreak are the ones who choose which platform they develop for (makes sense seeing as how they`re an independent company) I think it`s quite likely actually. But as a port of a game rather than a game made specifically for the Switch. They`ll surely have seen how many extra sales games like GTAV got from being ported to the next console as well so it would be kind of surprising if they didn`t try to attempt the same.

Masuda has spoken on the subject. Switch is the future of gaming and all, but they need to wait the release of the console and and see how it is received.

I wouldn't exclude a Switch port/version, but putting it as a Switch exclusive would be shooting themselves in the foot. Gamefreak employees probably don't want to lose their sales bonus to increase the Switch popularity.

There you have it, Switch is the future, thus future Pokemon games are inevitably going to be on it. Makes plenty of sense to me to use a cheaper/easier to make version of Sun/Moon to push initial Switch sales so future built from the ground up titles have an established base to sell on. We'll have to wait and see of course.

Around the Network

Well, sun and moon just released... I wouldn't expect another pokemon game till late 2018.. When the Switch is established... A mainline pokemon game only sell 2 million? Never.

If that was the case wouldnt I still be playing Pokemon on the GameBoy??

It would sell more than 2m on Switch even if the console base only ever reached 10m.

And in terms of money, Pokemon pushes hardware massively, and you probably make better money in the long run from selling more Switch systems than software for one game on the 3DS.

Yes just an announcement stating a pokemon mainline rpg is in the works regardless of the time line and peoples expectations ,would be a tremendous shot in the arm for the Switch and a confirmation of Nintendo's  single ecosystem mantra.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

it will release on the Switch 100%. make no mistake, regardless of how the Switch does in the West it will do well in Japan. and Pokemon does well in Japan as well. They will release new Pokemon games on the system
