Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I hate to say this...If the Switch isn't powerful as Xbox One, I'm not buying. Let me explain

I dont know who the OP is kidding, he/she is going to buy it and you KNOW it isnt close to Xbone.

They pulled a Wii U again in terms of home-console power the real question is if the new gimmick will sell better then the last one, if it doesn't it will be a second disaster, else they will get some third party support and maybe some games will utilize all the power available and games will still look 'ok' in 2020 and the power is good on the portable side.

however, I agree with you, if it was more powerful I would have been way more happy with the decisions and price, right now I am also predicting it will be (altough much less of a disaster) a repeat of the Wii-U and when the PS5 comes out nobody will want the switch, like nobody wanted the WiiU when the PS4 and Xbox One released.

On the bright side, a handheld version releasing later or a docking station that boosts the power for home console use are deffenitely 2 ways nintendo can turn it around, those options where not available for the WiiU

Consider it as the new 3ds, with the bonus of playing also in the tv.

It's just a little over twice as powerful at Wii U. It's not XBO level but XBO isn't a 1 inch thick portable device either.

Docked.  Undocked, which is the appeal of the device, it's just slightly better than a Wii U.  Even when docked, I doubt devs are going to do much with the extra power other than a higher res and/or more stable framerate.  Again, that's nice for a HH, but not for something replacing the Wii U.  It also means that once PS3/360 support is dropped completely and if the Switch isn't selling well, there goes most of its 3rd party support.

Adventure Capitalist is awesome!

its not as powerfull as an xbox one, forget it.

Its basically to the Wii u what the Wii was to the gamecube.

If you just want 3rd party games, then this system probably doesn't make sense.

I am buying the switch for Zelda, Mario, Xenoblade, hopefully Metroid, Pokemon and other games that will NEVER see the light of day on a microsoft device or Sony device.

People can say what they want about me or my games i like. I dont' care. I enjoy them and they are what I want. Most people enjoy the Marvel movies. I've started to find them repetative, cliche and obvious. Most people hate teh DC movies. I absolutely love MoS and BvS, hate SS. And I'm not going to let the online community tell me that my tastes are bad.

So do what you do for this system. Seeing as you have a PS4, I woudl continue to buy those 3rd party games on that system. They will be superior in all aspects I'm sure, minus option of portability. But not getting a Switch, you will miss out on all of it's exclusives. Which, if you like the types of exclusives Nintendo has, there are a ton of them. Heck, the Wii U, which was a huge dissapointment to me still had like 10 games I loved that were not available on any other system.

Dock soesn't have any chips to make it more powerful. All the guts are in the tablet.

I know this.  However, it downclocks when not on the dock to save power.  That's the mode devs are going to be developing for.  We'll have to see if they actually push it in docked mode.  I'm going to guess its mostly just going to be used to up the rez and maybe framerate, not much else.

Lol, yea it is.  Though, I think I'll be done with it once I get the last trophy.
