Forums - Sales Discussion - PS4 PRO suffering major shortages in Asia and EU regions.

Not saying you are wrong. But deosnt mean you are right either.

If Sony could only start making PS4pros in late September or early October then it could mean they simply couldn't make enough of them.

If they know that they shipped 1M PS4s before but make only 300k PS4pros then the issue isn't one of exceeding expectations. It's one of Sony not shipping enough of a product to meet demand.

It sounds similar, but they are different things.

Manufacturing problems are one thing, could be production is capped out or production coming to a halt because of a missing component etc...I agree with you there but if it's not manufacturing related then I cannot see how you could separate undershipping and exceeding expectations in this context where supply is sold out after holiday season. Yes in holiday season where companies don't willingly leave money on the table (except big N). Short version, Sony lowballed the Pro demand which led to wrong allocation in production between slim and Pro which led to Pro shortages.

In another context (and Nintendo), these two can be different things.

I don't think we really disagree, it looks mostly semantics to me.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

This is purely anecdotal as far as general supply goes, but around where i live (south west london) finding a PS4 Pro was an absolute nightmare. Wanted to get one as a gift, but they were sold out on Amazon UK so we decided to drive into town. We tried Tesco, Game, John Lewis, Argos, Sainsburys, you name it. We eventually did find one at a HMV of all places, but lord that was a long day.

Apologies.  Looks like they under estimated demand in the UK too.

This is good news because if demand is there the Pro will see steady sales right up to next holiday. I imagine Sony will cut it's price and promote it heavily next fall as it will actually have competition then.

Why bother now when they're selling all that they can produce.

Like i said it is relatively anecdotal, general supply for the UK could be fine, but at least as far as Amazon and where i live is concerned it was a less than pleasant experience :p

Let me put my cynical head on for a moment: Push PS4 slim and keep Pro reasonably low key. Many people won't even know the Pro exists and will buy a Slim OR because the Pro isn't being pushed hard they'll think there's little point in paying that extra money. Later on promote the PS4 Pro and garner extra sales from people who bought the Slim but now realise the Pro exists OR it is better than they realised.

Cynical for consumers, good for Sony lol

In all reality though, I just think it's more likely they slapped the Pro together to get sales for the Holidays before the Scorpio comes out. It's ok though, like I said a few weeks ago, it's almost guaranteed God of War is going to be a system seller for the Pro.

I saw it was out of stock on Amazon but managed to walk straight into Game in Kingston and buy one. Must have been lucky.

What? How you've come to this perverse conclusion is beyond me.

It's more likely than sony expecting a majority of Slim buyers to double dip and buy the pro later on lol.

All I am saying is that maybe with more development time, we might have gotten a better product. I'm not saying that I'm behind Sony lines, hearing conversations of them rushing launch for holiday sales. Lol that's obviously speculation. But I think it's a bit more likely that they wanted to get a 4k product out there, before microsoft, for holiday sales, a whole year before scorpio, and maybe sacrificed some important features in the process.

Won't that be something..... GoW, RDR2 being pro exclusive bundles and destiny and SW:BF being slim exclusive bundles. Should only amount to the best year in PS4 history of all that happens in 2017.

But we kinda know GoW won't make it for 2017.

Uh...not really??? There's a lot of evidence that  GOW will make 2017. It's pretty obvious to me that that's what they're going to use to sell Pro's...because let's face it you can't use Uncharted when Uncharted 4 is on the same engine and looks amazing on both the slim and PRo...so they'll have to use a new game to sell it.

If any company delays release to a later date, we will always get a better product than what could have been released at an earlier date (well... With exception to Nintendo that is)

I think the important thing is that Sony made the PS4pro console they wanted to make. And with how it was designed it's obvious that they chose to focus on efficiency and not raw power.

Maybe they know something we don't.
