No way to really predict. Depends on the price and games. I see it either as a Wii success or a Wii U failure. I personally won't pick one up if it is over 300 and lacks games.

I just saw that Amazon revealed the top selling game hardware, games, and accessories of 2016: http://gamingbolt.com/amazon-reveals-list-of-highest-selling-video-game-hardware-accessories-and-games-ps4-tops-the-charts

1.) PS4 Slim 500GB Uncharted 4 Bundle
2.) PS4 500GB Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Bundle
3.) PS4 Pro 1TB
4.) Xbox One S 500GB Battlefield 1 Bundle
5.) Xbox One S 500GB Minecraft Bundle

I'm a bit surprised that PS4 Slim sold better than OG PS4 since it came out pretty late, but I guess it was the holiday sales.
And interestingly, Xbox One is in fourth place, below three PS4 SKU's. So those three PS4 SKU's outsold the best selling Xbox One SKU by at least 3:1.

I hope the rumours about it being so underpowered, that rather than porting from XB1/PS4 they pretty much have to develop 3rd party games from scratch are false.  Nintendo are at the very top of game developers, but another Wii U 12 million selling console will be the end of the line, especially if it is not realistically priced, and it is about the price most people bought an XB1 or PS4 for this xmas.  But who knows?  Nobody in the public domain it seems, which is an whole other can of worms considering it is 3 months out.

Several surpising things on that list. The gears/Halo 5 (even though it came out 2015) didn't chart. And the ps4 pro did better than any xbox one console?

The PS4 Pro did better in two months, than the battlefield 1 and minecraft bundle?

When did those bundles come out, anyone know?

  • Deadliest mass shooting by an individual in US history (10/01/2017)
  • Deadliest high school shooting in US history (02/14/2018)
  • Deadliest massacre of Jews in US history (10/27/2018)
  • Political assassination attempt of TWO former presidents(and 10+ other people)  (10/23/2018 - and beyond)

7 hours since last update:

HARDWARE

#16 PS4s UC4 Bundle (same)
#35 XB1s-500gb Battlefield Bundle (down 5)
#74 XB1s-500gb Minecraft Bundle (down 3)
#86 PS4 Fool's Edition (up 7)

SOFTWARE (pre-orders only)

#29 PS4 Kingdom Hearts HD (up 6)

PS4:
2 in the top 100 / 1 in the top 50 / 1 in the top 20 / 0 in the top 10 / 0 in the top 5
XB1:
2 in the top 100 / 1 in the top 50 / 0 in the top 20 / 0 in the top 10 / 0 in the top 5

I'm expecting the PS4 to either secure or better its position at the top of the charts and the XB1 to slowly move down the charts as more and more PS4 exclusives are near to release.

The PS5 Exists.
