Forums - General Discussion - RIP crew and passengers Tupulov TU154

This morning (CET) a Russian aircraft which was supposed to fly from Sochi to Syria crashed has into the Black Sea. Thus far there hasn't been found a single survivor. The plane transported 8 crewmembers and 84 passengers. May they have found piece (and if they all died, a quick and painless death). Anyway I know we in Europe (or at least The Netherlands since they delivered the rockets that shot down MH17) supposed to dislike Russians, but no one deserves such a fate in Christmas evening nor any friend or family of the victims.

Who's 'we'? Is 'we' the victims of ridiculous propaganda which is aimed at perpetuating power politics? Is 'we' the same 'we' who brought disaster to Libya in the name of humanitarianism, and who now accuse Putin of doing the exact same thing in Syria? Didn't 'we' make a mockery of international institutions at Iraq, only to cry foul now? Is 'we' the same entity that with bigotry accuses the south of Europe for being poor, all the while turning a blind eye to the issues of mass immigration? Hate in politics is a manufactured product ready for consumption by the gullible.

At any rate, a terrible tragedy.

It seems that the christmas spirit isnt with you this year!

Hence why I added that it is a terrible tragedy. Yes I'm a cynic. I don't think this day is any different than others, nor can I be hopeful when so many humans, from Eritrea to Nigeria, and from Yemen to Pakistan are in constant violence and fear. Our world doesn't need this, but let's buy some presents for our relatives and pretend 'tis the season to be jolly!

But thats the whole point of the holiday. If people were to think as you do, nobody would never celebrate anything.Violence will never end.War will never end.Its part of the human nature. When its not in the Middle-east, its in Europe, and vice versa. So yes, its a time to be jolly. Its a time to be hopeful for your own life and its pleasures. And in case you had a rough year, its a time to be hopeful for the future. And finally a time to share this feeling with your family. You can choose to be cynical or anything. But if you are like that all the time, then you are never going to find time for your own happiness.Thats what christmas stand for.And thats where ill leave this conversation at.

For the victims, I hope they rest in peace, and the families find a way to move foward.

Isn't this plane famous for crashes? Soon they will be phased out by themselves at this rate because one crashes every other day.

To answer your question the we in this case are the citizens of Europe who constantly hear propaganda against Russia. Besides delivering the rockets that shot down Malaysian Airlines its MH17 didn't help Russia is reputation in at least The Netherlands. But that doesn't mean in any way that we shouldn't care, since these victims are as innocent as any. And the relatives are hurt no matter what, especially since they will be reminded every Christmas.

I was actually never told to hate Russians. Must be something they do in west Europe.
