Helloplite said: Hence why I added that it is a terrible tragedy. Yes I'm a cynic. I don't think this day is any different than others, nor can I be hopeful when so many humans, from Eritrea to Nigeria, and from Yemen to Pakistan are in constant violence and fear. Our world doesn't need this, but let's buy some presents for our relatives and pretend 'tis the season to be jolly! |
But thats the whole point of the holiday. If people were to think as you do, nobody would never celebrate anything.Violence will never end.War will never end.Its part of the human nature. When its not in the Middle-east, its in Europe, and vice versa. So yes, its a time to be jolly. Its a time to be hopeful for your own life and its pleasures. And in case you had a rough year, its a time to be hopeful for the future. And finally a time to share this feeling with your family. You can choose to be cynical or anything. But if you are like that all the time, then you are never going to find time for your own happiness.Thats what christmas stand for.And thats where ill leave this conversation at.
For the victims, I hope they rest in peace, and the families find a way to move foward.
