Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I miss the early Wii U days... Those days were the brightest days of the Console's life.

Ahhh. There I was on Christmas of 2012 excited and thankful for the gifts I was about to unwrap. What's the perfect gift for a 15 year old gamer anyways? My Mom gives me this big box and tells me I "may like this one". So I unwrap it and BOOM... the Nintendo Wii U console!

I remember that Christmas exactly when I got the Wii U and it was very exciting! I remember showing my Mom on how big the Wii U gamepad was and I told her that it was the most powerful console out right now (for like a year lol) and it was great. At that moment I thought it was the begining of another sucessful 100 Million units sold console! Like I was buying 3rd party game son it, Black ops 2, Assasin's Creed III, The Amazing Spider Man ect ect. I was enjoying the hell out of 1st party games that were out at the time. It was great!

Playing Nintendo Land was very impressive. I remember sitting in my room walking around the carnival-like place being sooo amazed with the graphics. New Super Mario Bros U was also beautiful too. I did the Wii to Wii U transfer so I can play my Wii games too. Why would I start all over on my Wii games? I enjoyed the Pikmin movie that was displayed while it loaded, it was great! The music was cute and it suited my cup of French Vanilla coffee I was drinking. My 2 cousins came to visit the day after and we had A LAUGH with my Wii U. Super mario chase was soo fun and the Luigi Mansion mini game too. It felt like I was going to have this laugh for the next 7-8 years. I couldn't wait for the next Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Pikmin, Donkey Kong(sadly), and ZELDA to come out for this new system and I thought this would be the best experience ever!

At this time the Wii U was soo full of life and energy and everyone was expecting it to replace the Wii's success. Best days ever. I did have a blast with the Wii U, but the blast was shortened. Wii U, you were amazing.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

it was fun for the first 3 years, but even after 2 years it was obvious it didn't have much of a future. 2016 had almost nothing to play although I'm gonna get around to paper mario and FE. I'm running out of games to play trying to stretch this system for a normal lifespan, i never had problems with any other nintendo system doing that. I bought about the same amount of games I did for other Nintendo systems, but I didn't get to choose the game that I wanted this time, I basically had to choose all of the quality games on the Wii U even though some of them didn't fit my taste.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I was also surprised how big the gamepad was! Like fuck! I was comparing it to my wii remote and ps2 controller.

I was amaze how smooth the gyroscope of it was on Nintendo Land. Like I keep spinning my gamepad around XD I was also amaze how fun that Zelda, Metroid and that Ninja game was. Great use of the gamepad.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Gamepad was massive. ZombiU was like POW!

Those bright days basically ended only few months after launch when Wii U start to have catastrophic sale numbers and we start to receive delays and cancellations.

IMO brithtest days of Wii U were MK8 launh folowd buy great Nintendo E3 2014.

A time when people were thinking that strong 3rd party support at launch would mean strong 3rd party support throughout its lifetime. Good thing those times are over.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

My Wii U is seeing a new lease of life, mistakes were made blah blah but it really is a super console with a lovely library of games. Great value for money seeing as I'm going through some Wii hidden gems and I'm starting to delve more into its indie scene.

Wii U was my first Nintendo besides the Wii. Great first impression Nintendo, really outdid yourselves on that one.

So, you might even say, it was your second Nintendo console?
