Post reveal edit: HD Rumble confirmed. It may not be exactly as shown below but it is definitely some form of haptic feedback. Feeling how many icecubes are in a glass is haptic feedback. This was talked about in the January presentation. Now you will be able to FEEL the game. Very excited for this.

This is mind blowing and a real game changer if what is shown in this video is the Switch's secret feature. Screw old crusty rumble tech. This will let you FEEL the game.

A new patent has been filed that supports this.

Here is the site link that talks about advanced force feedback: http://letsplayvideogames.com/2016/08/report-detatchable-nx-controllers-support-motion-control-and-force-feedback/

I could see Nintendo under Iwata trying that but not this time since time.

Yeah it's been a long time since Nintendo introduced force feed back in the N64 with no real advancements in the tech since then. If this new tech is used in the Switch that would definately be nice, but it would bigger game changer if it were used in VR.

The part of the video where he talks about running your hand along the wall of a dungeon to find a hidden switch sounds so cool.

What leads you to believe that this has anything to do with Switch?

No. The reveal already showed us what the Switch is.

This touch feature seems superficial.

Because Nintendo has something up their sleeve. They are saving something for the January reveal that they don't want other companies stealing. Nintendo have said they wont tell us everything until next month, so there IS something new they will show us. Maybe it is tactile feedback.

Lol, so no reason at all.

I dont think Nintendo has any super secret, amazing unannounced features that some people seem to be convinced of.

Its more likely that Switch has a bunch of smaller, previously used features all combined into a single package.

The point of Switch isnt to have some new, unheard of tech but to be a more streamlined version of many past ideas.
