Nintendo made the stupid decision to wait until january to talk about the console.

But now they have no choice but to stick to it and the third parties have to go along with their madness.

Isn't at all stupid decision, it very reasonable decision, in 2016/2017 there is no need to talk 6+ months about console before launch, and certainly they will not talk about new console right before or in middle of holiday season when they have current products to sell (like new Pokemon and 3DS).

It's actually very good and very planed decision, not madness, lol.

I'm not actually trying to respond to you, because for you, all the decisions Nintendo makes are good decisions, but anyway, read the answer I gave to Jumpin  if you actually believe you can hear a different opinion about something.

You're going to have to explain yourself because there's nothing to logically deduce. Why is it stupid to wait?

Because this isn't an iphone.

People here seems to think that Apple sells a lot so their strategy to wait at the last minute to show a product is the right one. But that's just not true.

The iphone is a successful established brand, the switch is not, it's a new brand they have to build from the ground up.

The iphone has an annual release, everybody knows it, wait for it. the switch is not an annual product, it's completely new

The new iphones are upgrades of a very familiar product, from the hardware to the OS, everybody knows how to use an iphone and what it does. The switch again is not, it's a completely new product that Nintendo has to explain and sell to people, it takes time.

You add to that that the entire web will do their marketing work for them, from the media, to youtubers, to any commenters, websites, etc they are all talking about the iphone because they know it will get a massive amount of clicks. Again, the Switch will never have that much coverage.

And last thing, the iphone was release the 29th of July 2007, do you know when it was announced? The 9th of January, and with a lot more details that Nintendo gave in their videos.

But let's go now with the obvious, publishers needs time to market their games too, the PS4 was revealed 9 months before the launch and all infos were given 4 months later, so 5 months before launch too. And at the time, we all thought it was already a really short period of time to introduce a new system to consumers.

But fact is that Nintendo doesn't manage Switch like Apple do with iPhone. When Apple reveals iPhone you have iPhone in stores just one week later. Nintendo revealed Switch 5 months before launch and has full reveal around 2.5 months before actually launch, so totally different approaches, so your comparing iPhone with Switch doesnt make any sense. And people already very well understand what is Switch from Switch reveal trailer.

Switch on launch will most likely have PS4/XB1 ports of games that are already on market if we talk about 3rd party support, so whats a point of marketing games 4-5 monts earlier for system that will be on market in 4-5 months, when you can already buy all those games on XB1/PS4 right now!? It's totally make sense to have all announcements, with new games and ports on full reveal, not make some partial announcements about some ports that are already on market 4-5 months before actually launch.

Of Course that not every decisions Nintendo makes is good decision, but Nintendo is for now managing Switch great and much better than Wii U. I already gave you answer, I hear every opinion not just different.

What I want to know is why Nintendo waited until this close to launch to divulge any details on the Switch. Aside from the reveal trailer showing us the basic concept (and several games), we haven't gotten any real info, and won't until about two months before launch. Sony and MS didn't wait until E3 2013 to drop short reveal trailers and then not give us anything else until September that year. The Wii U was first revealed in 2011. We usually know a fair amount about a system, including much if not most of its launch lineup, 6 or more months after launch. Nintendo waiting until almost the last possible minute—the TV ad campaign is likely to start in January after their big event, giving them two months to hype the system—is as far as I know entirely without precedent.

Well to be fair MS revealing XB1 6 months before launch was never seen before also, same goes with Sony and PS4, 9 months before launch, before that we had reveal of console 1-2 year before launch, but fact is that modern era you dont need so much time any more. Nintendo with Switch just go further away what  MS done with XB1. Nintendo didnt want to talk about new console right before or in middle of holiday season when they have current products to sell (like new Pokemon and 3DS).

Considering some 3rd parties have already announced Switch games wouldn`t the simplest explanation be that there simply isn`t an NDA restricting them from announcing and that there just aren`t any more 3rd party games to announce?

We have the rumor of DS and MarioxRabbids RPG. On top of that, we have the third party list. Capcom already announced that they want their games to feel different (by not existing maybe...), or the EA port.

So there are still third party games to be anounced, for sure not a lot, but still a couple left.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

They're so uptight. Hopefully it won't backfire on them, as I really want to be surprised by the full reveal and whatever games get announced.

I guess hyping up the launch without giving the potential costumers much time to move on/get bored/lose interest is a nice strategy. Zelda BOTW 2.0 would be a terrible mistake.
